Montagu is only two hours' drive from Cape Town and within easy reach of the coast.
Montagu is a peaceful town steeped in history and is renowned for its spectacular rock formations, fruit orchards, vineyards and healing hot springs. There are also attractive hiking trails, wonderful rock climbing sites and a nature garden. Two museums reflect the history of the vicinity and a herb garden contains a large number of medicinal plants found in the area. Montagu is known for its muscadel wine and four wine cellars in and around the town produce an assortment of excellent wines. The healthy, unpolluted, dry air makes for a much sought after climate. The Koo Valley, known for its fresh and dried fruit, is situated near the town.

Reviews
We had a great stay at Koo Karoo. The self catering apartment is perfect for people visiting with their pets.
I received the most warm welcome from the Jacqueline and immediately felt at home. The entire experience was completely positively overwhelming. I had all the facilities available for personal use and didn’t even realize wasn't at my own home. The owners immediately makes feel part of their family and always very concerned about how you doing and if you comfortable, and it was all genuine and not superficial. I have no problem to recommend this accommodation to my friends family and clients. Superior quality and service 👏
Our room was perfect for us. The bed was very comfortable, and an extra blanket as the nights are getting colder. Christine kept us up to date with the load shedding schedule (the internet and DSTV still had power during load shedding!) She was very helpful with suggestions for activities when our plans needed to change. We will visit again!
It was delightful. Shirley was so genuinely helpful, and the bedding was so luxurious. Going to bed was the cherry on the top after such an enjoyable day in Montagu.
Friendly welcome by host. Awesome accommodation.

Buying dried fruit and many other tasty things at Cape Dry
Beautiful setting, lot of attractions around.
Wonderful atmosphere and most welcoming and friendly residents. A true Gem with beautiful views and excellent hiking experiences. A peaceful and beautiful place with lots of exciting activities for everyone
The tranquility, historical few places, cleanliness and friendly inhabitants.
Came up to Montagu for a climbing course with Blue Mountain Adventures and stayed at the Tolhuis with two friends. It was just perfect. Firstly the location, it was only mere meters away from our first day's location for climbing , LEGOLAND. We could literally stop and walk up to our accommodation for a coffee and lunch break! The place itself was just perfect for the 3 of us. Great little braai area where we enjoyed our evenings and the place is simple and humble yet stylish! The hosts, Michelle, Ivan, and Jason their 6-month-old puppy were just very warm and accommodating. Thank you!
Climbing at Lego Land, Hiking, and cycling (there is a little history town cycle tour).
Quietness and peace.
The beautiful nature. The view of the mountain.
