Welcome to Matlapa Lodge.
Matlapa Lodge is situated in Magaliesburg with the most beautiful natural surroundings on 60 hectares of pure countryside.
Enjoy a magnificent view and the most beautiful sunsets. The thatched roofs and stone masonry add to the natural earth-like charm.
The accommodation consists of en-suite thatched chalets with old-fashioned baths, an outside shower and wooden decks. They are furnished with antique beds and cupboards that complete the romantic picture.
Each chalet is well placed in a garden to secure privacy amongst the 70 species of indigenous trees and South African flowers in bloom throughout the year. Bird species are present in abundance.
A restaurant with a magnificent view provides a combined breakfast as well as a three-course meal on prior arrangement. Matlapa Lodge is a malaria free zone and we are situated 16 km from Maropeng with the Cradle of Humankind.

What a beautiful, peaceful lodge. The chalets are well taken care of, their garden is stunning and taken care of with love.
Assistance from the booking process was quick and helpful.
The place was good and except that the chalets don't have TV. I would recommend they put some. Apart from that we had a great time. Thanks
Friends booked a weekend away for my wife's 50th, so we had the entire lodge to our group. Spent a wonderful time together. Overall facilities are good, although the rooms themselves are looking a bit tired and could do with a bit of sprucing up.
Being so close to Jo'burg, it was definitely a good choice for a weekend away with friends. I would recommend it for anybody looking for a value for money weekend break.
When we arrived we had a bottle of champagne waiting as it was our honeymoon. Its a peaceful place away from the chaos of city life.I loved the rustic look of the chalet and the outside shower.Though the lodge is some distance from the local town and there are dogs on the premises.Gustav and Mapula were great hosts.Thank you both for your hospitality.Justine&Claude

Magaliesburg Reviews
Magaliesberg is great to get close to local Joburg nature, relax and rejuvenate from daily stresses of city life and work.
It's is a beautiful place and a short travelling distance from Johannesburg or Pretoria.
The beauty and tranquillity of the area.
scenery peaceful quiet time to get away especially if you a couple n need a break from the hasel and busel
Mountains and Hikes are spectacular
Close, with quiet places to stay as well as the basic ammenities.
Beautiful magical, with so much to do.
Going to the upside-down house
Travel by day prevents being surprised by potholes, so pack in some patience when heading this way. Magaliesburg's Little Roadhouse had friendly service and fabulous slap chips. The Route 66 Events held at Mt Grace Hotel were most enjoyable. Looking forward to our next visit.
