The Outpost is a warm and welcoming self-catering guest farm set in the tranquil surroundings of lush Dullstroom and strives to make your experience as comfortable as possible. We are situated about 13 km outside Dullstroom on the Machadodorp gravel road which is maintained on a regular basis and accessible for any sedan car.
In Room Facilities:Fisherman's is a romantic cabin nestled in the forest surrounded by naturally grown arum lilies, the sunrise over the dam provides a spectacular view.
Cedar is a cozy cottage, perfect for a family break away. Watch the lovely sunset view of the farm and farm Horses.
The old farm dam was reconstructed into a home we fondly call the Willow house. Lovely for a family.
Maple overlooks the beautiful old stables of the farm and is ideal for large families and friends.
Area Information:Golf: The popular Highland Gate Golf Estate is a mere 15km from our establishment. We offer affordable private accommodation for groups of golfers who enjoy a self-catering facility that includes a self-catering bar and braai area.
Fishing: Arrange with our manager for a permit to go fish on one of the oldest and biggest fishing farms in Dullstroom.
Wedding Venues: The venue overlooks one of the farm’s trout dams and has a spectacular view of the surrounding farms. For wedding couples there is a choice of either an indoor or outdoor forest chapel, both overlooking our trout dams.
Conference Venues: The venue is ideal for corporate events requiring presentation facilities. For team building events we have a variety of activities with weekend accommodation available. Catering services are available on request.
Family-friendly: The Outpost is ideal for families who need a break from the hustle-bustle of city life. There is an abundance of birdlife the critically endangered White-winged Flufftail and Wattled Crane are said to be found in this area. Buck and farm animals.
Romantic: The solitary Fisherman's cabin nestled in the wattle forest provides the perfect scene for a romantic getaway. Listen to the nesting fish eagles with a view of the early morning mist settling on the dam.
Property Facilities:All units have fireplaces and a braai area. Two large dams (not stocked at present) with jetties add to the ambiance of an early morning stroll or sunset walk, where you can see the abundant birdlife and game viewing (blesbok, eland, springbok, ostriches, etc.). The critically endangered White-winged Flufftail and Wattled Crane are said to be found in this area. Use of the enclosed game area is for all guests. Practice your golf swing to perfection at our driving range up to 200m.
Go Horse-riding with a guide and view the beauty this farm has to offer. Booking is essential.
The acclaimed Highland Gate Golf and Trout Estate is a mere 15km from The Outpost.

Very neat and clean house were you can relax and enjoy the farm atmosphere

Goed gerus in stilte, dankie.
Was a lovely little cottage. Clean and very comfy. Loved the fireplace where you could also braai on. So quiet and just relaxed. Will definitely recommend. Road to place a little rough but luckily our car is high off the ground.
Pragtige omgewing, ver van al die geraas en probleme. Landskap is baie mooi en mens kan werklik ontspan in die natuur sonder om onveilig te voel.
Ons het 'n fantastiese paar aande by The Outpost geniet! Die Damhuis is ongelooflik ruim en voel soos "huis". Dit was die lekkerste bederf vir ons 3 jarige dogtertjie om wortels vir die donkies aan te dra.
Die plekkie is toegerus met alles wat jy nodig het om te rus en ontspan. Uitsigte is asemrowend en die wild op die perseel laat dit voel asof jy in 'n ander wêreld is.
The Outpost is 'n heerlike plek as jy vêr wil wegbreek van al die gedruis van die stad af. Die Fisherman's-eenheid is baie netjies en ten volle toegerus met alles wat jy sou nodig kry. Let wel dat 'n mens oor 'n relatiewe slegte grondpad moet ry om by The Outpost aan te kom. Ek beveel beslis 'n hoër kar aan. Wanneer jy wakker word met die ongelooflike natuurskoon van Dullstroom is dit beslis die moeite werd.
Die verblyf was baie aangenaam. Geen geraas of rusversteurings nie. 'n Regte plaasatmosfeer. Genoeg privaatheid om die eenheid en die personeel was baie gaaf en behulpsaam. Alles wat nodig was was tot beskikking. Dit voel nie soos 'n vakansieoord nie, maar wel 'n huisie van jou eie op 'n plaas.
Gerieflik en voldoende. Ons het heerlik op die plaas gaan stap. Die rustigheid laat mens toe om behoorlik batterye te herlaai. Dankie!
