Vogelgezang offers self-catering accommodation (two cottages and a cabin) situated on a remote part of the Vogelgezang farm. Vogelgezang Farm borders De Mond Nature Reserve and is half way between the villages of Arniston and Struisbaai and only a 2 hour drive from Cape Town. Vogelgezang lies in a fynbos thicket and accommodation has stunning views over cultivated lands and distant mountains. Spectacular sunsets can be enjoyed from an elevated rustic pool and deck with beautiful views to the nearby coastline and de Mond Nature reserve.
The cottages are off-grid i.e. no electricity - but appliances are gas operated and wood burning donkeys heat the water in the Cabin and De Mond Cottage.
De Mond Cottage was originally built in the early 1900’s and is set in a patch of natural fynbos surrounded by agricultural lands. The cottage is out of sight from the main homestead, offering privacy and is about 3 km from De Mond Nature Reserve. De Mond Cottage can accommodate up to 10 guests in total. The cottage offers a kitchen that is fully equipped with crockery and cutlery, a gas fridge, a gas stove and oven, an indoor cooking fireplace (dover stove) or a choice of two outside braais. The comfortable lounge area has a fireplace. The cottage consists of three bedrooms sleeping 6 in total. The first bedroom is furnished with a queen size bed and has an en-suite bathroom, while the other two bedrooms contain two single beds in each. The en-suite bathroom has a shower, while the other bathroom has a shower and a bath. There is a loft area sleeping an additional 4 guests.
The Vlei Café Cottage was recently renovated and is a quaint rustic style farm cottage. The cottage offers a small open plan kitchenette and dining area with a comfortable lounge area and bedroom sleeping two guests on a double bed OR two single beds. There is a small gas fridge with a gas hob and crockery and cutlery.
The Cabin was rebuilt after a fire burnt swept through the area in December 2018 and it is a wooden dwelling with 2 bedrooms and a covered stoep perched on top of a sand dune overlooking the pristine uninterrupted coastline between Arniston and Struisbaai.

Arniston Reviews
its away from everything and quiet
We enjoyed the wonderful sea, the view the laid back atmosphere, the local people and the wonderful fresh fish that we enjoyed.
The beautiful scenery and clean beaches. Very safe area and not overrun with people. Excellent for fishing, cycling and hiking. The Arniston Cave is a must to visit!
The close proximity to the ocean is amazing.
The beach is stunning. The cave is an impressive sight.
Neatness and quietness of the space.
The staff was e excellent
Friendly staff and great location.
The harbour and beach is within walking distance. Willeen's Restaurant and Mien's Tea Garden was excellent. We were safe and the locals were so friendly and welcoming.
Quiet and unspoilt!
We stayed at N3 seaside Cottage. What a peaceful break away. We often stay in the big seaside cottages. We would really like to recommend they give each cottage a good deep clean and have a look at replacing the stove tops (N3) was badly rusted and completely cracked. The house was in good shape just really needs very good cleaning after each stay. (spider webs on roofs, behind doors etc).(let it have the smell of a cleaned place).
We will for sure be back soon.
Thank you 👍
