The Artist’s Escape is a vintage, arty guest house situated in the suburb of Bonnie Doon in East London. The guest house is located just 7 minutes from Nahoon Beach, a surfer’s paradise. The Artist's Escape (also called The Studio) is unique log cabin, has lots of character and is built entirely from reclaimed and salvaged material like old colonial windows and doors. The property is surrounded by large trees and a lush garden, creating the feeling of living on a farm, with rabbits, rock dassies, geese, and ducks living in the bushes close by.
The log cabin has its own private entrance and can accommodate 3 guests in three single beds. The cabin offers lots of light through its many windows and comprises a large en-suite bathroom and a fully equipped kitchenette with a stove, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge etc. The cabin has lots of books, and a TV. Outside there is a private, secluded little patio with braai facilities.
Another unit is the Pilots Room a bohemian style separate flat with private entrance and a small garden area. This double room can also accommodate 2 guests in a double bed and has an impressive en-suite bathroom with a corner bath and a shower-over-the-bath. The bathroom has been built from natural rocks found on the property. The property offers braai facilities, and guests have access to safe parking inside the yard. The Pilot's Room features a separate outside kitchen as well called "Die Oue Kombuis" ( the old kitchen) designed in a yesteryear's style like an old farm kitchen. The kitchen has a deck and a seating area.
There is also a 1960s vintage camper, The Wanderlust on the property of The Artist's Escape, offering guests accommodation in a small luxury apartment on wheels. With its over 6 meter length, the caravan is very spacious, has a queen size bed, a fridge and stove as well as a small inside seating area. A deck has been built around the Wanderlust so guests can enjoy the green scenery in the valley when having a sundowner on the deck.
Artist’s Escape is situated in a quiet area in the suburb of Bonnie Doon, within close proximity to Vincent Park Shopping center, restaurants, coffee shops, an English pub, a post office, and a bottle store. The area is ideal for bird watchers and nature photographers. Your hosts are willing to assist you at any time and can offer recommendations for restaurants and day trips in the area. Delicious dinners are available on request, served either out on the deck, on the undercover patio, or in the Bamboo bar which is part of the owner’s living area.
