South Africa's vast Karoo region, covering the majority of its Northern Cape Province, is home to the Transkaroo Country Lodge. This boutique hotel, where only our hospitality exceeds the region’s tranquillity and wide open spaces, has made a name for itself over the course of more than a century of service.
The twin oases of its accommodation and its cuisine has earned it a reputation as the preferred stop-over en route between South Africa's north and south. Britstown, the town we call home, is conveniently located at the cross-roads of two national roads, with De Aar as the nearest major centre. The Transkaroo Lodge is a nice place to stop after a long drive. The rooms are somewhat dated and the aircon wasn’t very effective on a hot day but the pool area is very nice for a swim when it’s 35 degrees outside. The outside drinking and dining courtyard is very cosy in the evening
A really pleasant place to overnight between Jhb and the Cape. The food was very good, the room comfortable and clean and the inner courtyard provided a lovely space to have a drink.
Very quaint, had everything we needed, the pool was great after a long drive and the food was tasty. Overall a great experience.
Simple yet perfect. A true Karoo oasis for the long road traveler. Excellent food, cold wine, great service. Look forward to our yearly stop over.

Discovering the Transkaroo Country Lodge was a lovely surprise! Reminded us of a villa in Italy. Very comfortable, service was good and food excellent. We would definitely come back! So tastefully decorated too.

Awi and Miranda make you feel at home.Buy your food and prepare in open kitchen with all you need there as you could get there when shops closed.
