Birding:
Birds can be spotted anywhere on the property. The most commonly spotted birds are the Common Fiscal, Cape Robin-Chat, Bokmakierie, Crested and Black-collared Barbet, Cape Sparrow, Red-Wing, Pied and Cape Glossy Starling, Speckled Mousebird, Cape, Southern Masked and Village Weavers, African Hoopoe, Cape White-eye, Amethyst and Malachite Sunbird, Black Shouldered Kite, Jackal Buzzard, Long Crested Eagle, African Harrier Hawk, Secretary Bird and Cape Vulture.
Fishing:
A portion of the property is situated along The Wilge River, one of the main feeds to the Vaaldam in Gauteng. The river boasts Largemouth Yellowfish, Carp, Mudfish, Barbel and occasionally Largemouth Bass, which means Fly-Fishing and Bank Angling are the way to go. Although perennial, the river is highly seasonal and prone to various natural factors such as flooding and droughts. This means that the river can go through extended stages of either fast-flowing muddy water to calm, clear and stagnant water. The depth of the river can therefore change from an average of 1m to 3m at any given time. The riverbank is naturally wild and makes for a great adventure regardless of the outcome.

Good place
This was such a pleasant surprise. The rooms could do with a bit of upgrading but the comfort and cleanliness was exceptional. The hostess - unfortunately I didn't get her name, was superb. She was pleasant and very accommodating. The biggest surprise was the excellent food we enjoyed at the restaurant. The cozy atmosphere with the fire and the mouth watering food made the stay even more pleasurable. I will recommend this to everyone travelling down.
We booked at the last minute as our travel plans changed due to Gauteng lockdown, which happened while we were en route to Kruger via Gauteng. We picked Harrismith as a nice mid way point between Colesberg and Kruger.
The hosts were super friendly, the room was nice and clean and we had all we needed. Thank you!
Loved staying there, the hosts/owners are very friendly and accommodating to your needs.

Harrismith Reviews
Being in the mountain and the tranquil view.
Going to Greensleeves Guesthouse for the secure lockup Garage.
We didn't go in to Harrismith. We usually stop at the Engen 1 Stop on our way to the coast.
Love the mountains!!
