Colesberg has a rich history closely linked with to the legendary characters of South Africa's diamond industry. It has several national monuments, one of which is the Colesberg-Kemper Museum. The town is surrounded by “koppies” and the most famous is Coleskop, which can be seen from a distance of over 40 km. Other attractions in the Colesberg area include the Karoo Ostrich Farm or the Doornkloof Nature Reserve.
Come and enjoy the stars and the true tranquillity of the Karoo. Experience the sunrise and sunset, inhaling fresh air, like only the Karoo can offer you.

We stayed at Palmietfontein Guest Farm on our way back from the Cape in the last December holidays. What a delightful farm it is, the quietness, the Karoo stars at night and the hospitality and friendliness of Rianna and Piet is exceptional. The rooms were very comfortable and even big enough for our two large dog beds. Dinner and breakfast is served in the lapa overlooking the garden and veldt which was very nice after a long days drive. The place is spotlessly clean and situated close to the N1 but far enough away to experience this special Karoo feeling.
I can definitely recommend staying at Palmietfontein Guesthouse. Great service, fantastic value for money and the owners Riana and Piet are exceptional.
Absolutely stunning views, a real treat for the nature lovers!
Riana provides a friendly experience and the dinner was a memorable feature!!!

Colesberg Reviews
We stayed at Colesberg for the night, while travelling from Johannesburg to Cape Town. Staying at Little Farm, we enjoyed a light dinner and the most delicious slap chips, while enjoying the pet-friendly and child friend outdoor area.
Easy access from the highway
Beautiful surroundings
Well positioned between Gauteng and the Cape Coast
The beautiful accommodation and their cleanliness.
Colesberg the town has really gone down, rubbish everywhere, dirty and dusty. However as we stayed in the wonderful lodge outside of the town, we will overnight again in the area, as it is in the middle of Johannesburg and Cape Town.
Friendly people and just the right distance from Gauteng to take a break.
Spectacular view of animals and the mountains.
The roads are in great condition, we did not go into the town.
Just travelling through ....
