Raptor Ridge Lodge, Gariepdam, is located on the Lake Gariep route, about six minutes drive from the N1 highway and next to the Gariep dam. It offers splendid overnight facilities for travellers between Gauteng and Cape Town or Port Elizabeth, as well as visitors to the Gariep dam and surroundings.
In Room Facilities:We offer you nature at its best, so no TV and we make use of solar energy, so we are limited in certain ways and therefore if you would need to make use of an hairdryer the host would start the generator for you.
Area Information:With the lodge overlooking the Gariep Dam, the largest fresh water expanse in South Africa, it is a great place to relax. Getting mesmerised by the stretched-out plains filled with game like Eland, Gemsbok, Kudu, Blouwildebeest, Sprinbok and Blesbok, or watching the endless bird species, or the water expanse is not at all that difficult .. not to mention star gazing under the clear Karoo skies.
Property Facilities:The Gariep Dam accommodation is made up of 4 units with single and/or double beds. Each unit has an en-suite bathroom as well as a porch with a panoramic view overlooking the Gariep dam and the surrounding Karoo.
Other facilities available at the lodge are a lounge, wooden deck, braai facilities and shaded parking.
With a view, and not to disturb the tranquillity of the immediate surroundings solar power and gas facilities are utilised.
The option is available to book the complete lodge, including the equipped kitchen and braai facilities, pending availability.

Well priced quiet and peaceful place with fantastic views.
Very convenient for a quick over night stay. No fancy frills. Pet friendly. Very quite. Bed comfort.
Great stop over, very clean and beautiful views. Very peaceful surrounding. Bets welcomed us and made us feel most welcomed.
Lovely place to stay. It was a very peaceful environment and the host was very friendly. Room was very neat and clean. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be back.
We only arrived after 19:00, but it was not a problem. We were welcomed by our very friendly and helpful host, Bets. She informed us that if we would like to have breakfast the next morning, we must book that evening, which we did. We slept very well in our beautiful room with enough blankets and the next morning we noticed that we had a lovely view over the Gariep Dam. We also noticed that all the rooms had their own wooden areas outside. We then had a delicious breakfast consisting of yogurt, scrambled eggs, bacon, venison sausages, fried tomato, tomato salad and toast. There were also tea and coffee. After breakfast Bets showed us the venison and mutton items on sale and we bought some to take home with us. It was a wonderful stay!
This was perfect for our night stop over. However I will definitely enjoy staying there a few nights as well.
It's quite with the most beautiful sun set over the dam. The stars and moon gave a beautiful show at night.
The host is very friendly and welcoming.

Raptor Ridge was perfect for our one night stop over. The sunrise and early morning view over the nature reserve and dam were exquisite. So much so we felt compelled to unroll our mats and practice some yoga.
It was awesome . Cozy and just what was needed after a long drive.
