40 km north of Pretoria lies Deruxa Cottages. A pristine collection of cottages close to the border of Mpumalanga. A collection of game and bird species have made Deruxa their home, and it is understandable why. A beautiful, 21ha farm that starts out with a clean morning sky, and results in a sky full of stars as the sun sets behind the great towering trees.
The lapa is what Deruxa is known for. Numerous fireplaces, beautiful stone picnic tables, tables and seating for more than 20 people, a cozy bar and alluring decorations is what will make you never forget Deruxa, and count down the days until your next visit.
Deruxa Cottages has 3 room types:
A large, farmhouse that houses 8 people will fulfill anyone's needs. Consisting of beautifully coloured rooms differentiating with double beds and twin beds. It comes equipped with a beautiful lounge and state of the art kitchen.
For the executives, there are 3 cottages with twin beds, desks, coffee making facilities and a luxurious bathroom. It is extremely close to the conferencing centre and the main lapa. These cottages are room only.
Lastly, the romantic, self-catering, Stable unit sits about 300 meters away from the main lapa providing a couple with a lovely, isolated escape.It boasts its own lapa with a private patio & weber, and outside bar counter and sink. Firewood is available at your own account onsite.
In Room Facilities:Ranging from self catering in the old farm house and the recently refurbished stables to fully catered accommodation in the cottages.
Area Information:The property is ideally located a mere 40km north of Pretoria, approximately 45 minutes drive from the eastern and northern suburbs of Pretoria. The historical town of Cullinan is only 20km east of the farm and provides many attractions, restaurants and spas.
Property Facilities:Shortly after the property was game fenced and a few species of game introduced. Conference facilities with kitchen and cash bar, an open air lapa, and ablution facilities was added to the property along with four free standing cottages.
Attractions:112 bird species has been identified on the farm to date within a 12 hour period.
The farm has been game fenced and electrified. The animals venture close to the units during the day and late afternoon to drink at the strategically placed watering holes around the units. They are regularly fed special treats and cause great excitement for guests to watch them come for their anticipated snack.

We booked the Stable and Executive cottages. The cottages were very neat and clean. We had the opportunity to see Wildebeest, Springboks and Ostriches. Thank you to Neo and here staff for a wonderful experience.
I booked for a weekend break, to celebrate my husband's birthday with friends. Beautiful place, clean and relaxing atmosphere. I enjoyed watching birds, wild bucks and other animals drinking in the nearby waterhole early mornings and late afternoons. Neo, the manager and her staff made sure our stay was a pleasant one.

The Cottage was not in Cullinan but very close, we did not visit Cullinan but will do next time.
Lots of hidden Gems, small town with a lot of love in it. I’d say spend a week there - exploring and enjoying what the small town has to offer

Cullinan is a little sweet town, great restaurants. Very nice to relax. Very nice gift shops, great friendly people. There is great history and nice places to look at. Very nice for a get away weekend.
Spa & Golf!
The little town is so vibrant and full of life. We really enjoyed all of the little shops and the hospitality. We especially enjoyed Opistasie Bar and restaurant, such a lovely set up and truly authentic. The Warehouse was a lovely touch as well.
