Cypress Cottage is an 18th century guesthouse, circa 1796. It offers stylish, individually decorated bedrooms, lush gardens with century old Oak trees, a wooden sun terrace with sparkling pool. Enjoy hearty breakfasts with our hosts providing their special brand of hospitality and personal service.
Cypress Cottage is a family run guesthouse and each member of the staff will go above and beyond their call of duty to ensure the very best for the discerning guest.
Cypress Cottage has 2 en-suite rooms in the Manor house and 4 rooms in the Stables. The latter has a family unit with 2 separate rooms and a bathroom. There are also 2 upstairs rooms (each accommodates 3 people) overlooking the private swimming pool.

Swellendam, the third oldest magisterial district in South Africa, is a charming town with a fascinating history. Strategically located on the very cross roads between the Small Karoo with its Route 62, the Overberg region and the Garden Route, Swellendam has much to offer visitors interested in heritage, culture, architecture, wildlife and outdoor adventure. It is also an ideal base from which to explore the neighbouring Southern Cape with Cape L’Agulhas the most southern tip of the mainland of Africa, and the Breede River Valley with its fantastic Wine Estates.

Visitors to Cypress Cottage are within walking distance from many of the old buildings that have been declared National Monuments. The most interesting being the Dutch Reformed Church (‘Moederkerk’) with its eclectic architectural features and the famous (VOC) Drostdy Museum Complex (1747) consisting of several historical buildings, a restaurant and gift shop. Guests are also welcome at the Pottery studios of Bukkenburg and the Kunstehuijs Fine Art Gallery. Swellendam is also home to the Wildebraam Youngberry estate with its Liqueur tasting facility and deli.

Unique historic location and accommodation. Very friendly host. Lovely town.
Our stay at Cypress Cottage was great! It is pet friendly which makes my holiday more relaxing. Their labrador Daaniel is very chilled and loved having playmates. Our hosts Ettienne and Vera were very friendly and had lots of advise on things to do in and around Swellendam. Our breakfast every morning was delicious and filling. We would happily spend more time there.

La Belle Alliance restaurant is AMAZING for breakfast!
I enjoyed Aan De Eike Guesthouse, My room were clean and the service were excellent.I felt very safe enjoyed every moment since I arrived. Swellendam is beautiful with most beautiful views. The location was very convenient and would recommend The Republican Restaurant. The food and vibe were awesome. It's safe to walk in Swellendam, what a beautiful place for entertainment

Scenery, the residents, the roads are in great condition (compared to many many many other towns/cities in SA).
Wildebraam Estate. Friendly people. No traffic. Has all the shops and places one needs.
