Safe and tranquil in the heart of the Garden Route, Leisure Isle is unique in South Africa – and is widely acknowledged as “the jewel in Knysna’s crown” and undoubtedly a favourite holiday destination.
It is also one of the country’s best places to live, and no wonder the choice of many residents as well as a stream of ‘swallows’, Europeans and Britons who flock south to escape the harsh Northern Hemisphere winter to enjoy its fabulous weather and environment. Little do they know, ironically, that some of the best Knysna weather is in winter, when days are frequently warm, sunny and windless!
Island Nest is in the north-western area of Leisure Isle – a short stroll from Bollard Bay beach (Knysna’s only one); Steenbok Park; and from the small craft harbour, tennis courts and bowling greens.
Beautiful beaching, sublime and safe swimming, fishing, walking, cycling, canoeing and boating, and bird watching are among the things to do on the island. It is people and dog heaven! The excellent Knysna Golf Course and the awesome Pezula Championship Course are but a few minutes’ drive away.

Although Gael was away we received a warm welcome from Kirsty. This was the nicest pet friendly venue that we have stayed in to date. Located in a peaceful part of Knysna with some great areas to walk our pooch. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
A lovely, clean, safe well appointed little home away from home. We loved walking around the island with it's quiet roads and gorgeous views.

Swim.
The peace and tranquility of walking next to the lagoon, relaxing on Bollard Bay and being able to cycle to both the Leisure Isle Coffee Shop and Bodega Cafe from our accommodation. We also walked to East Head Cafe at The Heads at low tide! This was a proper relaxing holiday!
