A home away from home. Situated in the heart of the Dinokeng Big-5 Game Reserve, Marulani Bush Lodge offers a unique bushveld experience, something quite out of the ordinary.
We offer four fully equipped, self-catering, free standing chalets which is perfectly positioned and overlooking lush bush and watering hole, rendering you total privacy. Catering available on request.

Meaning "Place of Rivers", Dinokeng is a region in northern Gauteng and Limpopo rich in natural, cultural and historical heritage sites.
The malaria free Dinokeng Game Reserve, situated only 48km north of Pretoria on the N1 Platinum Highway, is the only free-roaming Big 5 game reserve in Gauteng.
The first visitors to Dinokeng Game Reserve were officially welcomed in September 2011.
Since then, the 32 500ha reserve has grown, and is still growing, in stature to provide a free-roaming haven for elephant, black and white rhino, buffalo, lion, leopard, cheetah, spotted and brown hyena, giraffe, eland, waterbuck, kudu, red hartebeest, tsetsebe, blue wildebeest, zebra, impala, warthog, serval, genet, caracal, many more plains game and myriad bird species, including the endangered blue crane, white back vulture and martial eagles.
Varying terrain and vegetation, ranging from bushveld to grassy floodplains and savanna thorn veld, support browsing and grazing species that are best enjoyed during our open vehicle Safari Game Drives, guided by experienced Naturalists.

We are very satisfied, thanks.
It is a beautiful place, quiet and a pleasant bush hide out. On the last day, which was a Sunday there was no hot water to shower. That was very disappointing.
Marulani lodge is quaint and quirky with something beautiful around every corner. We loved our stay there and would come back in a heartbeat. The resident squirrels were adorable and we especially loved our game drive with Koenie.
The lodge was immaculate, we stayed in Kurkbos which was awesome and we had the whole lodge to ourselves for the week which made our stay really special. We were visited by a giraffe, zebra, wilderbeest, impala as well as two silverback jakkals that sat by us every evening. Unfortunately we never met the owners but the cleaning and garden staff were really friendly and accommodating. The only negative thing was that the splash pool was out of bounds and the daily temperatures were up around 35 deg. If you are looking to see one of the big 5 it is like trying to find a needle in a haystack as big as a rugby field, we travelled on every road including the 4x4 tracks and never saw any sign of them. I presume one would have to book a game drive as the rangers have access to places the public does not. On the whole a very pleasant week spent at the lodge.
Close to Pretoria and Johannesburg for a weekend away. Clean comfortable with everything you need.

We have just spent the most amazing weekend at Marulani for a 60th birthday - Debbie and Riaan and Jacques were fantastic hosts - Maroela cottage where we stayed was comfortable and had everything you could wish for. The game drive with Jacques was a fantastic experience. We will certainly be back Hopefully with the rest of our crew.
Debbie was very welcoming and communicated with us frequently. When we had an issue it was resolved within minutes. The hut was comfortable and we had everything we needed, including a heater and extra blankets. The lodge is very pretty - lovely little decorative touches give a personal feel that we appreciated. We would love to visit again and bring the family with us next time.
We had a lovely time at Marulani and the hospitality was superb.
It is highly recommended.
Two friends and I stayed at Marulani for a two night weekend. We were met initially by Debbie who made us feel totally at home and welcome - and later by Riaan who is extremely interesting and we all agreed we would have loved to have spent an evening with both of them around a braai with a cold frosty listening to their stories. They showed us some phenomenal photos of elephant and lion virtually on their front stoep! The accommodation was spotlessly clean and we could not fault anything. We loved the artistic decor of not only the chalet but the gardens as well. We would unreservedly recommend Marulani to anyone wanting a break from the rat race!
We had a fabulous weekend at Marulani Bush Lodge and will definitely be back. The cottage was brand new and clean. Has everything you need. Riaan and Debbie are simply wonderful hosts. Thanks for the sharing of your knowledge and stories. We will see you again. The lodge is only 55km from OR Tombo.

I enjoyed the self-game driving, though I only saw 2 of the Big 5's next time I'll use the Game Rangers drive... I also loved the picnic sighting the food there it's very nice and tasty...
