With beautiful mountain views, Ledges Retreat offers you both a peaceful space to unwind as well as a convenient base from which to explore all that this area has to offer.
We offer spacious self catering accommodation in our 4 sleeper Hillside Cottage and 6 sleeper Farmhouse. We also have four B&B rooms available (of which one is a twin room) that each sleep 2. These rooms are let on a B&B, DBB or room only basis. A communal kitchen, dining and braai area has been purpose-built for the guests in the rooms to use should they wish to self cater.
In Room Facilities:Each room/unit is equipped with a refrigerator, TV (DSTV with selected channels), tea/coffee facilities as well as a bathroom en-suite. Rooms are serviced daily and a laundry service is available for a small fee. Each room also has a wardrobe so there is plenty of storage space, as well as a heater for the cold winter months. All linen and towels are provided (including swimming towels) as well as soap. Every room/unit has either a garden or a mountain view.
Area Information:We are located in the Okhahlamba World Heritage site, close to the Royal Natal National Park - approx. 20 mins by car. The closest towns to us are Harrismith (50kms) and Bergville (34kms) for fuel, shops, pharmacy etc.
If you are self catering, please remember to bring all your groceries as there are no shops nearby. We also do not have a liquor license so remember to bring your own alcohol.
Property Facilities:Ledges Retreat has a seasonal outdoor swimming pool as well as a trampoline. We also have a small library if you would like to borrow a book or two. The Putterrill Spruit runs along the bottom of the property and has numerous rock pools for kids to splash around in.
As well as breakfast, we are also able to provide dinner for guests, however we do need advance notice. Should you require dinner on the evening of your arrival, please let us know by 11am on the day of your arrival so that we have time to prepare a meal for you. Dinner is R150 per person (kids under 10 pay half) and if you book for breakfast the cost is R75 per person (kids under 10 pay half). Dinner and breakfast are served in our dining room.
Attractions:Nearby attractions include the Amphitheatre 9-hole golf course, All Out Adventures (5kms) and Royal Natal National Park for hiking and fishing. There is also a super-tube at Hlalanathi (7kms from us) for summer-time fun! Outrides can be booked at the Northern Horse at Montusi (approx 7kms from us). Please enquire for more details. Game drives at Kilburn Farm can also be organised, please ask for more details.
On the culinary side, we are 8kms from the Tower of Pizza, and 7kms away from the Oak and Ale Pub and Restaurant (big screen TV!). For mountain bikers, over 150kms of challenging trails are right on our doorstep, and of course there is plenty of space to just walk!

If you need peace of mind and quiet place try Ledges, you will totally refresh and you'll forget about everything that bothering you.
Spotless, very comfortable and attractively furnished accommodation. The views were great and we loved the river. Hosts went out of their way for us, will definitely go back.
I had a pleasant stay at the Ledges. i really did enjoy the view, the beautiful mountains we're breathtaking. Staff was very friendly, the food was good, all in all I enjoyed my stay.
Great Breakfast, outstanding view, nice rooms, big pool and trampoline, wonderful ponds in the river with picnic spot, staff friendly and helpful.
What an absolutely amazing resort. The view of the mountains are absolutely spectacular. We had such a wonderful and restful stay in Hillside Cottage. The cottage was lovely and well equipped. Jessica and her staff were very pleasant and accommodating. Thank you Jessica - we will be back!
Beautiful setting. Rooms clean and well appointed and the breakfast amazingly generous. The kitchen for general use is stunning. Can't wait to go back again.
We thoughrally enjoyed our stay, the peaceful surroundings and total beauty of the views. Staff were extremely friendly, and adhered to Covid regulations at all times. The breakfast was delicious as well, and the kitchens for self catering very well equipped.

The Royal Natal National Park is beautiful (though some of the roads need to be redone). The Coffee Patch and Bingelela Restaurant were great places to eat.
ATKV Drakensville Resort is my first, hope to visit other interesting places later. Quietness and cleaness of the place, mostly warm swimming pools.
