Mbabane, the administrative capital of Swaziland, is tucked away in the midst of glorious mountain peaks and scenic valleys in the Dlangeni hills, north-west of the country. The small city oozes a laid-back atmosphere, unhurried and unpretentious.

Mbabane boasts a variety of accommodation options in or within minutes from the city. Stay at luxury hotels, guest houses, up-market lodges, charming bed and breakfasts, cottages, backpackers, or opt for a traditional Swazi beehive hut. Most of the venues can organize activities and excursions at your request. The impressive mall and the Swazi Plaza are filled with numerous restaurants to delight all palates and budgets. Explore the wonderful open-air craft markets and food stalls, or venture out to the factories selling traditional hand-made products.

As Swaziland is a small country, Mbabane is an excellent base from where to undertake day excursions. Spend a day at the nearby Swazi Cultural Village located in the Mantenga Nature Reserve, or take a trip to Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary home to a variety of small game and rich bird life. After exploring the sanctuary on horseback and mountain bike, relax and enjoy a meal and drink at the marvellous Hippo Haunt Restaurant whilst watching the hippos at close range. Hike the massive granite Sibebe Rock, well worth the effort as the views of Mbabane and valleys below are absolutely breathtaking and it is a pleasant spot to have a picnic. Although most of the tourism buzz is centred in the nearby Ezulwini Valley, Mbabane displays a special charm and character, a peaceful modern city aglow with sunny smiles and friendly people.
