The property is set on 15 acres of lush land with its very own freshwater lake (which is being rehabilitated after floods in 2019), roaming buck and great birdlife. The beach is a mere five minute walk away and everything you need is right there. Lake, ocean or pool to cool down in, or perhaps catch a fish in one of two dams or use the paddle boat in one of the dams for some family fun.
In Room Facilities:Each room has a queen size bed, good quality linen, a coffee station, fridge and fan in the room. There is a double vanity in each bathroom and a big semi outdoor shower made for two. The rooms can accommodate 2 extra single beds should you want to bring the kids along.
Area Information:On this part of the coast there is plenty to do. The wild coast casino and resort is close and there is mac banana which is great for the whole family - their activities include segway rides, farmyard, butterflies, rope adventure park, quad bike riding, adventure golf, paint ball, archery, farm stall and great restaurants for food and their famous banana milkshake.
Property Facilities:We have wi-fi, coffee stations, a communal kitchen for both Kingfisher and Weaver tents, fully equipped with microwave and oven. Wagtail & Falcon have their own private kitchenettes. There is place for a boma fire and a gas skottel for cooking too. There is a pool with Wagtail tent and paddle skis for use on the beach.

The setting is superb- lush and pristine, although you cannot see the sea. Each tent is beautifully appointed and my tent had a fabulous outdoor bath.
What a great place!
We had a wonderful first night at this establishment. Matthew, the host, is very hospitable and friendly. He made sure we were well taken care of. Our tent was well-appointed and had extremely comfortable beds. The outdoor bathtub was something really special!
If pushed for a suggestion for improvement, I would say maybe cover the little space between the bathroom sinks and the toilet with a roof. When it rains, it drops on both sides making the small spot very wet.
Unfortunately it was raining during our entire stay and early evening on the second day we had to evacuate our tent due to an extremely fast-rising water level, which was caused by unusually heavy rains that wreaked havoc and damaged roads and infrastructure throughout the South Coast. Although the flooding must surely have put a lot of pressure on our host, he remained calm and friendly at all times. He kept us informed, was accommodating and displayed great hospitality.
We are sorry we could not complete our stay, but would love to visit again one day. We highly recommend Kingfisher Lakeside Retreat!
