AfriCamps at Oakhurst is situated on one of the few remaining large working dairy farms along the Garden Route and covers a massive 640 hectares – 200 of which are pristine fynbos and indigenous forest. To fully immerse visitors in the beauty of the surroundings, the eight self-catering boutique glamping tents overlook rolling green fields and the beautiful surrounding Outeniqua Mountains. Here, the breathtaking Wilderness meets the Garden Route’s lesser-known farm lifestyle. Grazing cows and horses create a truly authentic farm experience.

Each AfriCamps tent consists of a spacious open plan lounge area with a comfortable couch, a dining area with a solid wooden table and seating for five guests, a fully-equipped kitchen, two bedrooms that comfortably sleeps five guests, and a bathroom complete with hot shower, flushing toilet and washbasin. Each tent has its own private outdoor wood-fired hot tub, perfect for cooling off during hot summers or warming up in winter.

Both bedrooms are furnished with an extra-length queen-size bed and have their own private entrance which allows maximum privacy. One of the bedrooms also contains a single bunk bed. Our tents are equipped with air-conditioning and an indoor fireplace. Enjoy a braai on our spacious wooden decks and take in the views from the comfortable deck loungers. Pull up the front covers and transform the tent into a large outdoor living area. Unwind and appreciate a festive family breakfast while taking in the serene natural beauty of the South African landscape.

Wilderness is a charming holiday village. With its long golden beaches, extensive waterways and lush indigenous forest, it is a nature lover’s paradise. Wilderness lies 15 km east of George, nestled between the Outeniqua Mountains and the warm waters of the Indian Ocean and is an ideal base from which to explore the world-famous Garden Route.

From kilometers of well-maintained forest single track for mountain biking or trail running, hikes through the forest to the farm’s waterfall, the action at Oakhurst just keeps getting better. Try your luck at a spot of fishing in the farm dam, where canoes are ready and waiting for you. The kids can visit the Oakhurst Dairy and watch the cows being milked or play on the climbing wall and jungle gym in front of the cottages.

Wilderness has over 18 km of golden beach sands that are ideal for fishing, sunbathing, swimming, surfing, or a leisurely stroll. Venture off the beach to explore the wonders of the indigenous forest. Marvel at the giant Yellowwood trees, follow the tracks of bushbuck and duiker along the quiet paths and keep an eye open for the elusive Knysna Lourie. There is a wide variety of restaurants, cafés, art galleries, craft stalls, shops, and weekend markets to explore. Relaxed outings include scenic drives, horse rides, and cave exploring.
