Reviews
Pleasant and tranquil a great escape from everyday civilisation. Kliphuisie neat and all the cooking stuff are there
We absolutely loved the Kliphuise! The accommodation was clean and comfortable and situated so close to the river. We had such fun on the canoe and fishing during the day, the Kliphuisie is really a place one can just relax and take nature all in.
We had a fantastic stay at Kliphuisie Bonnievale with Ronel van Zyl as host. The cottage was cozy and clean, and the view was stunning. We enjoyed the quiet and peaceful atmosphere, and the stars at night were amazing. It was nice to disconnect from electricity and signal, and just relax in nature. The host was very helpful and welcoming, and made us feel at home. We have nothing to complain about except for the fact that the weekend was too short. Everything was perfect. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a tranquil getaway.
What a magical place! peace, stars, river, bush and a secret valley nestled in the mountains. Ronel was most accommodating and welcoming - and addressed a few concerns immediately. Die Kliphuisie is rustic, so take any frills you are used to including drinking water, but has a good fridge, wonderful huge internal and outdoor fire places, privacy and a stunning position... we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you Ronel. Graham and family
Awesomely amazing!
A lot of spiders and flies, but that's to be expected out there in nature!!
Beautiful little place!!! Enjoyed it thoroughly!!!
We enjoyed every moment, specially the remote area, away from all the negative and bad news
It was a perfect stay for us and the dogs!! Indications were clear and keys and remotes cleverly organised.
Keep well and thank you once again
If any place has under-promised and over-delivered, it is Die Kliphuisie. No cellphone reception, no electricity (aside from the solar powered lights), gas fridge, gas plate stove and a donkie for hot water. Perfect quiet and a fish eagle calling down at the river.
Do not expect luxuries. Everything you need to make the stay comfortable is provided, but the real luxury is just being here.
This is truly a place you can just unwind and get away from it all. If you crave connectivity, move right along, because this is not the place for you. If quiet and privacy is what you need, Ronel's number is at the bottom of the page.
Thank you for a fantastic couple of days. We have already booked our next visit.
I was there before and will go back anytime.. people who visit this will always go back. Thank you Ronel you are a star.
Loved being back here at our home away from home. Thanks you Kliphuisie for another special weekend away in your cosy cottage by the river!
Spent a few nights there and pure bliss. Away from the rat race, has everything one needs and loved the outside shower where you can watch the stars. Ate figs off the trees in the garden and just too early for the pomegranates. Highly recommended.

Natural beauty and adequate shops, wine and cheese.
great camping
The nature and views are incredible.
I liked the scenic Tradouw Pass, visited the waterfall, and Die Drupkelder cave.
We had lunch at Diesel & Creme. Very impressed with their food once again.
We also visited Ronnies Sex Shop. Nice novelty pub to visit.
The mountains, nostalgia, cheese and wine...Van Loveren the best!
We enjoyed lunch at Viljoensdrift and Catharinas and also having dinner on the private patio watching the sun set over the mountains. The King size bed was super comfortable and the large fenced garden made it very private for us and our scotty dogs.
It’s a beautiful place!
Exploring the area, friendliness in the area.
Small town but not much to see.
The rich history and wine cellars. Van Loveren staff very friendly and felt welcome.
