Kafunta River Lodge is a classic Zambian safari lodge that offers all the essentials for a great safari. Here you will also find the necessary rest and rest after an exciting safari day with individual service and a warm welcome by our team.

Safari Lodge Chalets & Luxury Suites
At Kafunta River Lodge, all private luxury chalets, as well as most lounge and dining areas, overlook the lush floodplains of the Luangwa River. The river is one of the best places for wildlife watching in the magical South Luangwa National Park, Zambia's premier national park, one of the best in Africa.
Our eight private safari chalets stand on raised wooden platforms. They are covered with thatch and tastefully decorated in an appealing African style. All were newly renovated in 2019 and lavishly furnished. In addition, there are two stand-alone luxury suites with a veranda on the first floor and a luxurious bathroom.
Lodge Lounge & Dining
Heart of the lodge is the spacious lounge and dining area, roofed in traditional African style. A tall, almost evergreen wild mango tree in the center provides shade on sunny days.
Here every evening at sunset, a cozy campfire awaits you, where guests and guides gather to share the latest animal experiences or just listen to the sounds of nature.
Game Drives
Kafunta River Lodge has its own pontoon bridge, 5 minutes from the lodge. After an exciting river crossing you can visit more remote areas of the South Luangwa National Park and make particularly good wildlife watching. From the lodge to the park's main entrance, you'll just have a short game drive - and you'll be able to reach the animal-rich Mfuwe sector. The early morning hours are ideal for a safari, which can also take place on foot. During our game drives in the afternoon we stop in the middle of the bush and have a sun downer to experience wonderful African sunsets. After that, the journey continues in the dark to track down nocturnal animals.
The Only Natural Hot Tub in the Luangwa Valley
Next to the bar you will find our large swimming pool and a basin for the only natural hot spring in the Luangwa Valley, which lies on the land of Kafunta. Here you can completely relax and enjoy beautiful views of the river plain and the Luangwa. The approximately 37 ° C hot water has a therapeutic effect and is refreshing during the cooler evenings from May to July, the perfect ending to an eventful safari day in the park.
Fig Tree Spa
Off the beaten path in a quiet and private corner of the Kafunta grounds, you can enjoy relaxing treatments at our small spa.
For fitness lovers there is now also a small gym-dwelling.
