Welcome to Gîte Franschhoek,
The name Gîte (French) means a specific type of holiday accommodation. Gîtes are generally old farmworkers' cottages or converted outbuildings and barns within proximity of the owner's principal residence.
Interestingly, we actually referred to a converted barn on our farm as ‘The Gîte’ for years and then when we started thinking of a name for our newly built barn-style suites a family member proposed that Gîte is the perfect name.
Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate children or pets.

We booked the unit for our anniversary and we were absolutely amazed by the beauty, peace and the tranquility we experienced. Gite is highly recommended. We were welcomed by Junita and showed around and she explained how everything works. The unit is extremely private and you feel safe while you don't feel trapped in fences and being watched by security guards. An absolute MUST for a romantic weekend away in Franschhoek.
The unit had everything we needed and everything was in working condition, it was clean and very well planned. The bathroom had a bouquet of fresh tulips and the toiletries was of high quality. We felt spoiled and planning to visit again soon!
Thank you Junita!!
Absolutely picture perfect! I hate having to share such a good review; afraid of letting the secret out. Secluded, but still close to everything. Beautiful finishes. Wonderful host. Ideal weekend breakaway.
Wonderful contemporary accommodation looking over the vineyards and mountains of Franschhoek. Loved the airy feel and views from the inside and outside. Very well equipped and clean, and the hosts are welcoming and considerate. We stayed in the largest unit which has a bigger kitchen and living area. Although the location is in a rural setting it's central to the village of Franschhoek.
This was one of my most picturesque stays locally. The cabin’s at Gitê are Instagram worthy. I fell in love with the morning view from the bed as well as the view of the mountains which made me feel like I was in a little Europe. The place itself was very well equipped and I was impressed with the minimalist and very stylish decor. We truly felt welcomed by Juneta and Pierre who made our stay very pleasant and were readily available when we needed assistance. It was a chilly weekend but we couldn’t leave without making use of the outdoor wood fired hot tub whilst sky gazing. This really was a luxurious stay for what I felt was a minuscule price. I really think if you are looking for a romantic getaway and a touch of luxurious albeit countryside charm, this is the place, I will definitely be back again.
Our stay at Gîte was perfect. The views was stunning the accommodation was amazing, everything was very modern and beautiful. Juneta and Pierre were such lovely people. The wood fire hot tub was just the cherry on top of a wonderful weekend away.

Franschhoek Reviews
Always a pleasure to go to a beautiful, clean well-run town. You can walk the town & find great restaurants, interesting shops & even play boules.
The Wine Train for sure
So many wonderful places to eat including lovely outdoor courtyards with live music; lovely bespoke shops plus some necessities like Clicks; incredible world-class wine estates with wine tasting & pairing experiences and the wine tram; lovely accommodation well-tiered; safe to walk around. For an outstanding experience and meal I would recommend La Petite Colombe on Leeu estates.
The view, the quietness, the restaurants,, the wine estates.
Wine tasting trains and trams. Scenery and location.
The relaxed vibe...
Clean, feels safe and beautiful views and hikes.
The village vibe and how safe it is. Also, everyone can walk to where they want to go, instead of getting into a car every time.
Weather, shops, restaurants. Access to vineyards, trips, park run.
Holiday atmosphere without crowded chaos.
