Situated between Knysna and George, Sedgefield is a popular holiday destination, as it provides both peace and quiet, as well as the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay.

Just to the west of the village is Swartvlei Lake, which is a great area for camping, fishing, canoeing, and windsurfing. To the east lies Groenvlei, a freshwater lake famous for bass fishing.

Groenvlei forms part of the Goukamma Nature Reserve that stretches across to the Goukamma River estuary at Buffalo Bay, and all along the coast.
