Enjoy an unhurried stay at the charming Clarens Lantern where you can feel thoroughly spoilt even in this fully-furnished, self-catering guest house. Having everything at your disposal without anyone bothering you. Rooms available include the Aurora Suite (large bath & separate shower), Beacon Suite (Shower only) and Bonfire Suite (Large bath and separate shower).
In Room Facilities:Excellent Queen sized bed with 400 Thread Count linen, balcony, bathroom amenities, coffee/tea-making station, en-suite bathrooms, sitting area.
Area Information:Clarens is a small town situated in the foothills of the Maluti Mountains in the Free State province of South Africa and nicknamed the "Jewel of the Eastern Free State". It is every bit as idyllic as its namesake in Switzerland. Famous for its multi-coloured sandstone formations, a unique geological feature of the area. Enter the village and you will see the many beautiful homes, old and new, built with this sandstone.
Only 3 hours from Johannesburg and Bloemfontein and 4 hours from Durban, Clarens is the perfect weekend-away destination for city dwellers wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Free off-street parking, secured behind gates. Peaceful part of town next to the Conservancy. All rooms en-suite, Queen beds with high-end White Linen and coffee/tea stations.
Attractions:Outdoor adventure, white water rafting, quad bike riding, abseiling, hiking, crystal clear rivers, art galleries, restaurants, mountain climbing.

Love the mountains for a nice hike.
A variety of restaurants and shops to explore.
We love exploring Golden Gate, wondering through the shops in the Town and visiting our favourite Clarens Brewery. We enjoy supporting the smaller farm restaurants in the area. Highland Brew was a lovely new addition to this trip.
Variety
Main roads to town are recommended for daylight use only. Small town atmosphere but with a wide variety of activities and stores. The annual Titanic Challenge Trail Run was my main attraction - stunning views!
Everything....food, quality of shops...felt safe...clean...friendly people....
Love all the shops and restaurants there is. Surrounded by mountains. Perfect breakaway for winter or summer.

Small, quaint, but very lively little town with spectacular views all around. Hiking is a must and can be done on the edge of town. We stayed at Views and the hiking trail was on our back door. Beautiful, beautiful little town offering great food, culture, entertainment and beautiful hiking trails.
