Louis Trichardt, also known as Makhado, lies in the Vhembe region in the Limpopo province of South Africa. Activities and attractions in the area include San rock art, Voortrekker heritage sites, the Manavhela Ben Lavin Nature Reserve and the Albasini Dam. The dam offers water sports and other recreational activities. Travelling approximately 35 km south of Louis Trichardt along the N1 there is a sign indicating the Tropic of Capricorn. Louis Trichardt is located at the base of the Soutpansberg Range. This is a popular visiting spot as the views are spectacular. The area is filled with bananas and litchi growing. The N1 running through the town will take you, after approximately an hour's drive, to the Zimbabwean border.
