If you are looking for an off the grid weekend getaway, a chance to reboot, destress and rejuvenate, then look no further. The rustic river front cottage is suitable for a family of 6 comfortably (we were two adults and three kids). It’s located off the beaten track - 57 minutes out of Ceres town to be exact and certainly worthwhile the dirt road drive. The owner needs to provide better directions though as the basic drawn map is hard to decipher with all the unmarked dirt roads. The river is clean but a little challenging to access as the riverbank is overgrown. I would suggest a little wooden deck or jetty for easier access to enter the swimming pond at the foot of the house. Vegetation is lush and the area is mountainous and a joy to behold. The private dam is a wonderfully relaxing picnic site with clean and well maintained ablution facilities (toilet with a good Mountain View). The cottage needs a bit of a fix up - some paint work internally and externally and the wooden balustrade around the deck needs some securing. This cottage is a must do for star gazers, those seeking a quiet off the beaten track getaway of seclusion and peace; and a reset of the mind. We are appreciative of our weekend experience. Go just for the view of the endless almost alien like mountain outcrops, the melodious sounds of the flowing river and the pleasant twitter of the local bird life. We loved our stay at Glen Donald River Cottage!

Ample shops and activities.
The country feel and friendly people. Steers has the best coffee!! Enough shops for browsing around.
Snow hunting in Geydo pass.
The wide open spaces, the barren beauty and the age old rock formations and starry night skies.
