Gowan Valley offers the perfect Bed & Breakfast accommodation for Midlands visitors. The wedding capital of KZN, and as such Gowan Valley is 1.8kms from The Groves Wedding Venue, 4kms from Granny Mouse & Zunguness & 5kms from the Glades. We are 2.5kms from Michaelhouse School & also the home of the first Africamps Glamping tents in KZN.
The property offers 13 elegant, classy rooms with ensuite bathrooms which are all well-furnished in modern decor.
It sports an expansive garden with a grassy landscape in typical Midlands style.
The property sports over 1km of river frontage, swimming pool, kiddies play area and wonderful walk through the indigenous forest & throughout the farm.
Gowan Valley rooms are kept up to date with modern decor & our signature large walk in showers.
These comfortable guest rooms are made even cosier with their heaters, electric blankets for those colder evenings, percale linen and tea and coffee making facilities.
It offers good lighting, spacious rooms, mirrors, seating, shelving, bedside pedestals, lamps, coffee table. Wi-Fi is available throughout the property.
Gowan Valley Guest Farm is in the heart of the Natal Midlands, 4.5hrs drive from Johannesburg and just 1.5hrs from Durban. The Midlands is known as wedding capital of KZN, and as such Gowan Valley is 1.8kms from The Groves Wedding Venue, 4kms from Granny Mouse & Zunguness & 5kms from the Glades. We are 2.5kms from Michaelhouse School & also the home of the first Africamps Glamping tents in KZN. Piggly Wiggly hosts the local Park Run, just 10 mins drive & zip lining is a firm favourite in the Karkloof. Midmar Dam, the Mandela Capture site and the Junction Shopping Centre are other local attractions.
Property Facilities:Gowan Valley is blessed with the Mpofana River rushing through the property. 1.5kms of river frontage, makes this property extra unique. Enjoying the river by swimming, tubing (BYO), picnicking & trying your hand at catching trout & yellow fish ( please bring your rods). A beautiful park-like English garden at the B&B, natural vegetation at the Africamps tents & a stunning walk through our indigenous forest to see the 500yr + Yellow Wood trees, all await your visit. Wi-Fi is available throughout the property.
Attractions:There are plenty of fun activities for the active such as golfing, mountain biking, hiking etc. and the Midlands Meander provides ample opportunity to relax, do some Meandering, enjoy some fine dining and great coffee.
On the property you can opt to swim or tube (BYO) in our river, picnic, catch Trout/Yellow Fish & Bass (BYO tackle), enjoy our indigenous forest walk, walk throughout the farm, swim in the pool, take the kiddies to our play area & breathe the clean Midlands air!

It was very lovely
My husband and I spent a very relaxing weekend at Gowan Valley Guest Farm. Deanne and Brett and the perfect hosts and went out of their way to make us feel at home.
The farm is in the perfect position to enjoy all the best sights on the midlands meander.
We really loved the beautiful rooms! You can stay in one of the garden cottages or the gorgeous manor house. Each room is clean and beautifully decorated. There is so much attention to detail - even Easter eggs left in our room as a treat.
The breakfast is excellent and home made to order each morning while you sit out on the deck overlooking the river - just perfect!
Overall cannot be faulted!
I would like to thank you most sincerely for an unforgettable weekend. Your guesthouse instantaneously becomes a home away from home and the secrete certainly, is your wholehearted and authentic attitude towards life and your business. The four of us had a fantastic swim on Sunday. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend your guesthouse to anybody travelling in the Midlands.

The stay we had at Gowan Valley Guest Farm had the most amazing view and setting. Just the right accommodation to unwind from the hustle and bustle of the city life. The Room was perfect. Breakfast was great. I would definitely recommend Gowan Valley Guest Farm.

What an amazing surprise, from the minute we drove through the gate, till we left, was unforgettable. The owners are amazing and friendly, and very helpful. It was a very hot day, and the swim in the river was amazing. What an experience... Never to be forgotten. Rooms are beautifully laid out and clean. Will be back!!
Beautiful place with river surrounded by lush garden and country farm setting. The rooms are spacious and clean. The breakfast delicious with friendly attentive staff. On the R103 so easy to get to. All and all a great experience... and we will definitely go back.
Gowan Valley is a very special place, beautiful setting, attention to the smallest detail with clean, spacious, lovely rooms and the most fantastic hosts in Deanne and Brett! The breakfast room overlooking the river and the Nguni cattle is gorgeous - it is always a treat to stay at Gowan, thanks guys!

There are a variety dining and activities and places in Balgowan. The fresh outdoors was great and beautiful scenery and our pictures show that!
Interesting and quaint places to visit.
Piggly wiggly is very pleasant.
We love the Midlands area. We like visiting Piggly Wiggly with the kids. Also had a nice lunch at Terbodore Coffee Roastery. The Funtasy shop at the Connection in Nottingham Road is a must stop for such nice toys and books.
Lots to see and do in Balgowan. Beautiful.
