The area has been a haven for rural and creative people since the early 1800s. In spring and summer, the hillsides are covered in carpets of green, dotted with abundant wildflowers
*During the crispy cold autumns, the leaves and grasslands turn burnt orange and yellow, and during winter, the air is frosty and sometimes there is even snow. You will also find some of the most spectacular waterfalls in the province, excellent fly-fishing, and an amazing variety of craft shops and home industries along the route known as the Midlands Meander.

Lovely, unique and living up to the name! The tree houses are full of surprises, from art on the walls to the interesting door handles, windows and bathrooms. The spa in the sky is fantastic. Dinner is a three course meal and was scrumptious. Breakfast the next morning did not disappoint - fruit, cereal, yogurt and muffins followed by a full English breakfast. Gary and his partner are great hosts, personally checking guests in and made us feel very welcome. Each tree house seems to be different so we will certainly be back to stay in the others!

This is the second time we visited Sycamore Avenue, the first time was 12 years ago. This time we brought our 3-year old with for the experience, and Gary and team's attention to detail with regards to catering to her needs was really great to see. We booked dinner and breakfast and both were very well prepared and delicious. There was more than enough fire wood for the stove downstairs in the Fantasy Treehouse, which was a welcome change from the previous visit. We felt very welcome and I'm impressed with the personal service.

Very great place , where you can just relax and clear your mind.
My husband and I enjoyed a relaxing weekend in the Pegasus treehouse. Such a unique experience, we will definitely be back soon.

The roads are bad, but the farms and scenery are beautiful.
Don't let the Mooi River area that you have to drive through put you off.

Easy to do the whole Midllands from there, plus you are 2 hours closer to Joburg on the way home.

Beautiful countryside to travel in and start the Midlands Meander back down towards Howick.
