We have two beautiful self-catering guest houses namely “Die Werkershuisie” and “Die Voerstal”. Voted one of the favourite 14 farm stays in Country Life magazine.
In Room Facilities:* Werkershuisie is a lovingly renovated original workers house with a stunning view over the vineyards. Fully equipped, family unit with bedroom and loft. It caters for 2 adults and 2 children with 1 bathroom.
* Die Voerstal is a two-bedroom en-suite fully equipped house with lovely veranda and fire pit. Also with beautiful view over the vineyards.
Area Information:Situated in the stunningly beautiful Meiringspoort of the Klein Karoo approximately 4 kilometers from the quaint dorp of De Rust, 35 kilometers from Oudtshoorn and 110 kilometers from George.
Property Facilities:Varkenskraal is a small farm by Karoo standards. Just fourteen hectares of arable land out of the roughly ninety hectares. Just over seven hectares are devoted to vines whilst the rest to mixed farming being vegetable seeds, oats, lucerne and a handful of beautiful Nguni cattle.
Attractions:Klaarstroom is a scenic 20 km drive away on the way to Prince Albert (70 km) via the lovely Prince Albert Valley. Return via the rugged Swartberg Pass (you can pop in to Gamkaskloof/Die Hel) and Oude Muragie road taking in the Cango Caves and the Rust & Vrede waterfall on the way.

À fantastic and caring host, went far beyond their duty to make my stay comfortable. The accommodation is world class and the view breathtakingly beautiful. Would give it 6 stars if I could.
Friendly reception, lovely cottage with great view. Well equipped, only some of the electric plugs did not work. Bedside lights kept on flickering like Xmas tree lights. Will use this place again and recommend it to others.
Beautifully equipped and maintained cottage. We were very impressed by the amenities. It is well situated a short way outside of Oudtshoorn. The staff, Debbie, was very attentive and helpful. Would highly recommend this stay

We had a wonderful stay at Varkenskraal Farm. Our unit was absolutely stunning and the location even better. After a long day, we enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and really relaxed. The complimentary bottle of wine was a plus. Beautiful units, beautiful views. Everything you could want!
So surprised to find this delightful wine farm, at the southern end of Meiringspoort. A very worthwhile stay at such a reasonable daily rate. I have never stayed in such a well appointed self catering cottage. The bed linen is top quality, as is all of the cottage including the complimentary bottle of wine. Will recommend to friends.

Small town full of gems and beautiful places to visit
Pluim restaurant, wonderful food.
So peaceful, the house is very well equipped.

Definitely worth every cent
The Karoo is a beautiful place. We visited THE TRAVELING TORTOISE for a weekend. We were welcomed by the owner, Jeff, who took us to our chalet. The chalet is very neat. Jeff showed us around and light our wood-fired hot tub.
I will recommend this trip for young and old. Our kids enjoyed the freedom of roaming around and the 'older' enjoyed the nature and quite.
