Kestell Stables self-catering guesthouse is situated in Waverley, the oldest suburb in the north of Bloemfontein.
This location is conveniently within two kilometres of schools like Oranje Meisieskool, Willem Postma Primary school as well as Sentraal High School.
Recently revamped Northridge Mall, Preller Square and Bays Village shopping centres are also within close proximity, the latter really walking distance. The best restaurants in Bloemfontein, including fine dining Margaritas steak and seafood restaurant, as well as take away options are also just down the road. Although we do not offer meals, we have an arrangement with the best coffee shops and restaurants in the vicinity.
This self-catering guesthouse has only three rooms, each equipped with DSTV, air conditioning, wi-fi and bathroom with spacious shower, basin and toilet. One larger room has a fully equipped kitchen, sleeper couch as well as a fireplace for the cold Free State winters.
Area Information:This house was originally the stables of this area when it was still a farm during the late 18th century. The roof of the house and the bedroom ceilings are original.
Property Facilities:Each room leads out onto a delightful veranda, which serves as an extension of the room, to enjoy the lovely well-established garden and the tranquillity of the neighbourhood. Braai facilities are available. This quiet cul de sac is protected by a security company guarding the street daily from 6 pm to 6 am. Each room has the convenience of onsite private covered parking.
Attractions:Franklin Game Reserve on Naval Hill, comprising of the digital Planetarium, the Nelson Mandela statue overlooking the city, and The Cutting Edge Restaurant.
Waaihoek, where the ANC was founded.
President Brand street with its national heritage buildings, including the Appeal Court, the Fourth Raadzaal, The City Hall, The National Literature Museum and the Old Presidency,
Oliewenhuis and
Grey College, a parallel medium school for boys, founded in 1855, the third oldest school in the country.

Has a beautiful garden to sit and drink morning tea or coffee at outside each room. The rooms are beautiful with a modern industrial aesthetic.
We had a lovely stay in the king suite. It’s very spacious and very well equipped. It is situated in a very quiet area. Liesl was an excellent host. We will definitely be back.
5 Stars should say it all?! This wonderful gem in Bloemfontein is NOT a home-away-from home - it is the home where you soul and body can rest, and just BE. Added to this peace and tranquility our hosts, Liesl and Renier, were not only perfect hosts but also most accommodating! Only advise: if you plan to stay over in Bloem and there are no "soul-homes" available at Kestell Stables: give Bloem a miss until there are!
