Each bedroom has all that is needed for a comfortable stay but it is the facilities at Alkira and the lounges, bar and restaurant with breathtaking views from ocean to mountain along with warm hospitality that make Alkira so popular with local and international travellers alike.
Guests can choose to stay in the 6 private rooms at Alkira lodge, the 2 bedroom Lakeview Apartment or ‘Shufflers’ the 3 bedroom private Villa @ Alkira.
Or, book the whole lodge and enjoy a fully inclusive experience (our chef is ready to feed you), host your birthday or wedding or, book a room only and enjoy a quiet escape to Alkira with your loved one.
Alkira and Shufflers Villa have indoor and outdoor dining options, indoor and outdoor lounge spaces and spacious tanning decks. The infinity pool and hot tub jacuzzi are a place to relax, unwind and enjoy the sounds of silence and warm sunshine surrounded by nature’s beauty.
As the evening descends, fireplaces and subtle lighting create a warm, romantic atmosphere to enjoy the stupendous fireworks as the sun sets over the Indian Ocean while enjoying a wine from the cellar and a private dinner freshly prepared by our chef.
In Room Facilities:All rooms have safes, free Wi-Fi, hairdryers, bathroom amenities, luxury linen, desk area, charging/USB ports, international adapters, tea and coffee facilities, en-suite bathroom with shower separate toilet, private terraces and views across the fynbos reserve towards the lake, rivers and mountains or to the ocean and the endless horizon.
Luxury suites have in addition to these facilities, indoor and covered outdoor lounge area, outdoor shower, couples bath, and fireplace.
5.5 Hour drive from Cape Town International airport and the Cape winelands, 2.5 hours from Port Elizabeth international airport and 45 minutes drive from George airport. All on the N2 National Highway, easy roads in good condition and excellent signposting.
For young and old, active or not Knysna is the perfect base to explore the magnificent Garden Route. Wilderness 30 minutes drive, Plettenberg Bay 30 minutes drive, jump from the worlds highest bungy jump 40 minutes away or swim with Sharks at Mossel Bay one hour away. Golf on spectacular courses in the area. The famous ostriches and Cango Caves of Oudtshoorn are a scenic 1.5 hour drive from Knysna.

Knysna is surrounded by water; beautiful beaches, for walking, for sun-bathing, for swimming or for learning to surf or stand up paddle (SUP). Fishing from land or from boat in the lagoon or the sea. Canoe any of the magnificent rivers and lakes in the area. Hire a luxury speed boat for a private tour of the waterways, a water transfer to the beach bar and restaurant at the private Featherbed reserve or a champagne sunset cruise. Take an adrenaline filled ride through The Heads on a speed boat and view dolphins and whales (May to November).
Nature’s beauty is everywhere and walks and hikes guided or self-guided are plentiful both in the forest and along the coastline. Popular with birders, take a bird book and a flask of coffee to one of the hides in the area and catch the ‘early birds’ or we can arrange a tour with a local birder to share their knowledge.
Knysna is the number one spot in South Africa for mountain biking and bikes can be hired for guided and self guided mountain biking. Or bring your own bike. Alkira has storage and hose facilities on site.
Within 40 minutes drive are many animal centres including, Birds of Eden, Monkeyland, Jukani, walk with the Cheetah's at Tenikwa, ride the Elephants, visit the Wolf Sanctuary or Radical Raptors for birds of prey and displays of their incredible hunting skills.
Cycle or drive our local wine farm route.
International food, seafood, local experiences, peace, nature, golf, adrenaline, relaxation, spa experiences and shopping are all on your doorstep.

Awesome place, absolutely love it! The views and the ambiance of this place is truly special. You will never find a place like it. If you want to experience luxury, this is definitely where you want to be.
Absolutely amazing experience! Sam is an excellent hostess. The place is incredible..My family and I felt like we had gone to the South of France and totally loved the entire experience. The rooms are absolutely incredible and so are the views of the whole town.
