Big Five Game Viewing on our doorstep makes the Happy Jackal the perfect choice of luxurious accommodation. This river lodge lies on the banks of the beautiful Sundays River, only 2 km from the Addo Elephant National Park, and as close as ten minutes away from a selection of prestigious private game reserves. Easily reached from the N2 , it is in the perfect spot for game, coastal or river activities.
Experience a game drive, in our open game viewing vehicle, with our own qualified and experienced nature site guide on a full day safari at an additional cost.
Also book boat river cruises, especially the sunset cruise, which includes dinner on the boat, at an additional fee.
Our beautiful establishment has 6 rooms inside the lodge and 5 self catering units, a solar heated swimming pool and lapa and our private jetty to moor your boat. Sundays river bank is 50m from our main lodge.
Port Elizabeth and its airport is only half an hour away and in the opposite direction the historic, university town of Grahamstown would take the traveller a mere 45 minutes.

I know it is not the norm as a new Lodge Manageress to write a review, but in this instance it is, as I have been to many Lodges in my lifespan. I rate this Lodge as the Top in Colchester, which is situated 2 minutes away from the Southern Gate of the Addo Elephant National Park. Not just that here is an Open Game Viewer and a world class Ranger, but for the hospitality one receives right from arrival to check out. Breakfast is a story on it's own, as the owners, Peter bakes a homemade loaf of Bread for each table daily while Liz ensure you enjoy her own home made Jam, with a scrumptious warm Breakfast.
The warmth and quality accommodation one receives at Happy Jackal makes me a proud member of Staff to greet the guests, ensure they enjoy their stay and knowing we are part of their great memories!

We stayed in the cottages and were invited for breakfast in the main building!
This how they are at Happy Jackal, the most friendly people with the most amazing breakfast. Included homemade jam and fresh bread just coming out of the oven!

Peter and Liz are very helpful and great hosts, the location is perfect, breakfast is delicious (especially the bread ) and the bed very comfy. Only thing that is not quite working is the TV. So if you don't plan on watching any then you re fine :)
Overall it was a great stay
Peter and his wife a lovely couple, let you feel at home at arrival, provides a excellent breakfast (with homecooked bread). Can improve on the maintenance of their garden though.
