McBains is situated at the summit of the Bainskloof Pass, offering venue hire and accommodation for up to 40 people in an eclectic variety of rooms, cabins, and spaces. Fronting the Klein Sneeuberg Mountain and Witte River, McBains is blessed with stunning views and easy access to an abundance of river pools and mountain walks. We are at the top of a mountain and you need to drive up a scary (for some), winding mountain pass to get here. We have no cellphone reception, but you can get intermittent access from the road. We are a little bit rough around the edges – just how we like it.

In Room Facilities:

The rooms and cabins can accommodate between 2 to 11 people. Some of the units have private bathrooms, while others share the use of communal ablution facilities. Guests are required to bring their own towels and torches.

Area Information:

Wellington is a town in the Western Cape Winelands, a 45-minute drive from Cape Town, in South Africa with a population of approximately 62,000.

Property Facilities:

There is a communal wood-fired hot tub that guests can make use of. R150 contribution per group if you would like to make use of this facility. Shared braais and kitchens are also available.

McBains really is a hidden gem, a stones throw from Cape Town. You are spoilt for rock pools, hiking, stargazing and abundant nature on your doorstep. The cabins and facilities have lots of character, from up-cycled furnishings to cabins named after famous poets. You can feel the passion and creativity for the space, which makes it all the more enjoyable and special.

It was a beautiful stay! The cabins are beautiful, and a major advantage of staying at Mc Bains is also the access to a private part of the Bainskloof pools. Very kids' friendly too, with trampolines and playroom. Thank you!
