On the bank of the Crocodile River between Malelane and Komatipoort on the N4 national highway and sharing a border with the Kruger National Park, Marloth Park is a wildlife sanctuary and holiday town. It boasts four of the “Big Five” with the exception of elephant.

Buffalo, rhino and lion are confined to Marloth's game reserve "Lionspruit"; the rest of the game such as kudu, zebra, giraffe, blue wildebeest, nyala, impala, warthog, ostrich and others aren't restricted by fences and roam freely between the units that are built on 3000 hectares of prestine Lowveld bushland.

On the southern boundary of the Kruger National Park, Crocodile Bridge Gate is 14 km and Malelane gate 35 km from Marloth Park.
The name Marloth Park derives from a German botanist, Rudolf Marloth. The Aloe Marlothii was named after him. This plant is found abundantly in the Lowveld.

Marloth Park, which was founded in 1977, is not only a stopover point for tourists travelling to the Kruger National Park, to Mozambique or to Eswatini but, due to the free-roaming wildlife, has become a tourist destination of note. Many lodges and private houses are found inside the Park.

Marloth Park is a unique project. It opened in 1972 as a holiday township, though a large part of the park remained natural. There are no internal fences and the vegetation remains in its original state. Marloth Park is separated by a boundary fence and by the Crocodile River from Kruger Park. Within the park, there are giraffe, wildebeest, kudu, zebra, impala, bushbuck, warthog, baboon, vervet monkey and other small game and rich birdlife. Meanwhile, the infrastructure of the natural park is well developed.?

Inside Marloth Park (3,000 hectares), the freedom of movement is remarkable. Tourists can ride a bicycle or go for a walk on their own through the African bush. Movement is not confined to the housing units. While walking along the Crocodile River, visitors can watch spectacular wildlife scenes in the adjacent Kruger National Park. Local restaurants, shops and a filling station are easily accessible.

Marloth Park features a humid subtropical climate with mild winters and hot summers.

At night you can expect to hear Lions roar and Hippopotamus frolic in the water. To top this off, you can also expect nightly visitors such as Galagos, also known as bushbabies.

You have access to a fully equipped kitchen, a boma and a barbecue and freshly made beds and bath towels.

You will find that, apart from the free-roaming wildlife and the peace and tranquillity of the bush, there are a lot of activities to do in and around Marloth Park.

If you get tired of having a traditional braai (barbecue) you can visit some of the local restaurants that offer familiar and some not-so-familiar favourites.
Visit the Kruger National Park as a day visitor and drive yourself or spoil yourself and use one of the many qualified game drive specialists that are stationed in Marloth Park.

Visit Lionspruit Reserve in Marloth Park and experience 4 of the big 5 (tickets can be purchased within office hours at the main entrance gate of Lionspruit or at the offices of Henk van Rooyen Park which is also in Marloth Park.
If you are on the adventures side, why not look at doing canopy tours, horse riding, paragliding or river riding, all within a relatively short drive from Kudus Crest Bush Retreat.

Need to do some serious shopping in the concrete jungle, we’ve got you covered. Nelspruit, the Capital City of Mpumalanga, is less than 2 hours drive from Kudus Crest Bush Retreat.

Love to spend time in the bush, but want to enjoy some surf and sea? The border post at Mozambique, with its picturesque beaches, is less than an hours’ drive away.

Here are some of the local Marloth Park activities that you can enjoy:

HIKING
Walking is free, you can enjoy a short stroll to the Crocodile River and sit on one of the many benches and enjoy nature with a view. Some roads are also suitable for wheelchair access.

Just a word of warning, please limit these walks to after sunrise and before sunset. Marloth Park is directly next to the Kruger National Park and large carnivores have been known to sometimes break through the border fence to hunt in Marloth Park (not often but it does happen). Rather be safe than sorry.

CYCLING
Please feel free to bring your own bicycle, all the dirt roads make for wonderful mountain biking.

If you do not have a bicycle or if you did not have space to pack them, you can always rent them at Marloth Park.

As with Hiking, we would recommend that you only do so after sunrise and before sunset.

DRIVING
Nothing beat a nice early morning or late afternoon drive through the streets of Marloth Park. If you are lucky you may even be able to feed the local Zebras or Kudus from the comfort of your car.

This being said, please remember that they are and always will be wild animals and can be unpredictable.

If you do intend to feed the wild animals, please limit it to wildlife pellets. These pellets are specifically designed for wild animals and will not harm them. You can feed them with Lucerne (a type of grass that is safe for wild animals to feed on). Both the lucerne and the pellets can be found at the local hardware store at the Marlothii Shopping Centre in Marloth Park.
In general, road conditions in Marloth Park is good and most roads can be safely travelled using a road car (no need for an offroad vehicle). Please use your good judgement before tackling a road and look for the road signs which indicate if a road is only accessible using an offroad vehicle.

If you choose to go into Lionspruit, please be aware that the road conditions are not suitable for ordinary vehicles, please only do so if you have a vehicle that has offroad capabilities.

SWIMMING
Kudus Crest Bush Retreat offers a private splash pool just for your own use.
If you are more of a social swimmer, please feel free to visit any of the 2 public pools that are available. One pool is at the Bush Centre behind the "Watergat" (Waterhole) Pub, and the other at the Henk van Rooyen resort.

Please do not swim in the local dams and/or rivers as they might be home to hungry crocodiles.

QUAD BIKING
Although no bikes (quad bikes and otherwise) are permitted inside Marloth Park, you can enjoy a Quad Bike ride at Marula Farm, just outside the entrance to Gate 1 of Marloth Park.

KRUGER NATIONAL PARK
Last but definitely not least, why not visit the world-famous Kruger National Park as a day-visitor with the closest Gate of the Kruger National Park being the Crocodile River Bridge Gate (this gate is 15 minutes drive from Kudus Crest Bush Retreat, via entrance Gate 2 of Marloth Park) or the Malelane Gate (this gate is 30 minutes drive from Kudus Crest Bush Retreat, via entrance Gate 2 of Marloth Park).
