Splashy Fen offers accommodation on a farm that is home to the famous Splashy Fen music festival, just 18 km from Underberg. The Umzimude river which runs through the farm is heavenly for swimming in and picnicking next to. In the evenings, listen out for the howl of the jackals and the whistle of the reedbuck.
Accommodation is offered in secluded thatched cottage
The Splashy Fen Cottage sleeps 6 people in 3 bedrooms, plus an additional 4 people in a mezzanine loft room, above the lounge, and accessed via a ladder. The first bedroom has a king-size bed, the second bedroom contains 2 single beds, and the third bedroom contains a double bed. The mezzanine loft has 3 single beds and a pull-out floor mattress. The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen and dining area, 2 bathrooms, and a cosy lounge with a fireplace, as well as a patio and garden with outdoor furniture.
Additional cost of R100 per pet per booking. Maximum of 2 pets

Splashy fen cottage is set in a wonderful location along the river. It really is a home away from home. It has everything you need including a washing machine and dishwasher. There is ample space and beds. The house is incredibly cool inside on hot days. Our favourite spot was on the swing chair overlooking the river. Listen out for otters and buck calling at night. We will be back but for longer next time.

Mountain views and the breath of fresh air
It's far enough away from all the hubub to really feel like you're away from it all but also has a lot available to do if you so wish. The scenery is beautiful and the air is fresh!
Hiking, swimming, relaxing.
If you're in to adventure, then Underberg is the place to visit. There's no shortage of trails for running, hiking and mountain biking. It's close to the Drakensberg and Sani Pass.
Breath-taking beautiful! Well stocked convenience store (Elands Rest) and a few nice restaurants to have coffee. Just very cold, even in Nov.

For us its all about the hiking in the mountains.
