Situated only 120 km from Cape Town, the picturesque Tulbagh Valley offers a perfect base for exploring the surrounding area and discovering all the beauty and adventure that the Cape Winelands has to offer. The area is steeped in history and is characteristically Cape-Dutch, yet still offers all of the modern comforts that travellers might wish for.
Tulbagh provides visitors with a unique experience that caters to all types of travellers, whether you’re a nature enthusiast, an adrenaline junkie, a history buff, an art lover, a wine connoisseur, or simply seeking tranquillity. Located in the southern hemisphere, Tulbagh has a Mediterranean climate and undergoes four distinct seasons, with summer spanning from December to February and winter from June to August. The summer season in Tulbagh features golden wheat fields and is characterized by hot, dry weather for which sunscreen and hats are recommended. As autumn arrives, the surrounding vineyards transform into a captivating palette of gold and rust as the weather cools. Highly recommend!
My husband and I spent our wedding night in their accommodation. They were very helpful with the booking. The cottage was clean, welcoming and air conditioned! The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. The staff is friendly and pays attention to detail. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome and at home. Will definitely return
Wow! Would recommend Duikersdrift to anyone. We had a lovely experience. The peace and quiet and stunning views. Thank you to all the staff you have a great gem.
Great experience. We will definitely go back again. Accommodation was clean and the service and food were excellent. Very friendly host as well.
Beautiful and spacious cottages with stunning views of the vineyards and mountains. The cottages are well equipped, we enjoyed the king bed and hot tub. The staff are the best- welcoming, friendly and helpful. The restaurant serves delicious food and good variety at breakfast.
We absolutely liked everything about the accommodation! We were greeted warmly, everything was explained to us and we felt comfortable from the beginning. We would have liked to have extended it! The food there was also first class!
Can’t recommend this place enough! We booked Duikersdrift as a stop on our way to Ceder Mountain - not expecting much. Boy, where we in for a surprise! The cutest cottages (just 4) with beautiful antique furniture - so tastefully decorated. The views are absolutely stunning. Beautiful pool. Lovely little restaurant. Friendliest staff. Great playground for little ones (and friendly donkeys to pet!). Owner, Justin, is an amazing guy. Great recommendations on what to do in the area and had lovely chats throughout our stay. Don’t hesitate to book this place! One of the best discoveries on our trip.
From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by this place and the hospitality.
The owner Justin greeted us warmly with a handshake, checked us in, and personally gave us a detailed tour of our room and all its amenities.
The room is spacious, extremely well-appointed, and very comfortable, with a gorgeous view. The grounds and surrounds are stunning, especially the beautifully serene pool area. Everything has been clearly well thought out -- an excellently managed place. We don't normally dine at our accommodations, but we made an exception here, and we were very glad we did -- the food was top notch. Breakfast was also really wonderful.
I can't say enough good things about this place!
I fell in love with this farm, it's people, our room, and definitely their bed!!! If you want to escape, have peace, jacuzzi, cool of in a lovely pool after a hot day/night, and eat great food for reasonable amount - this is the perfect romantic getaway!!!! All the luxuries, without frills, and yet have a farm feel - just better..... THIS IS THE SPOT!!! I can't wait to go back for winter!! And I so wish I was there tonight - so much peace, and just all round wholesome!
... and again: the beds are incredible!
This unassuming 4 cottage /1 restaurant, is just 2 ours out of Cape Town.. this has its own beauty, and the locals are just so friendly! We love it! See you soon Justin!
Beautifully built and furnished cottages, with attention to all the big and small details. Very friendly and caring hosts. Dramatic mountain backdrop and excellent fauna and flora watching. The picnic basket was superb. We will definitely be back!

Tulbagh Reviews
Our second visit and certainly not the last. So much to do and see!
Scenery
Wine, scenery, sunset
Beautiful, historic and quaint little town. Stroll down church street and have a roosterkoek at Kole & Deeg. Highly recommend the Gin Yard at Vindoux wine farm. The Spar gets ridiculously busy on long weekends so rather come prepared unless you want to stand in line for 30 mins. The Tulbagh Nursery is awesome if you’re into gardening and plants. And take the Bain’s Kloof pass if you want a beautiful scenic route!
The quaint town, the beautiful scenery, the olive tasting.
Everything!
Wine, the history side.
We found Tulbagh to be close enough to Cape Town for a quick weekend away with family & friends.
Clean town with stunning wine farms, wine tasting and lovely restaurants.
Very picturesque with great hiking, mountain biking trails.
Lots of convenient shops in the town.
Can't wait for our next visit.
We loved our Sunday lunch at Tulbagh Hotel and Champagne tasting at Krone.
We went to Essere lodge for a weekend and loved it! Have done many wine tastings at the surrounding farms, love going there often.
