Welcome to Heartwood Homestead,
We are on a small working farm, based roughly on permaculture principles, with free-range chickens and ducks and holistically managed livestock (currently Pedi sheep and a working Antolian Shephard Dog).
We run exclusively on solar power, so no load shedding.
We have a small nursery and carpentry workshop on the farm.
This beautiful timber-frame home was completed in 2019 and was based on the "Tiny House" principal of less is more.
With attention to detail and creative expression, this comfortable space is completely off-grid, as is the rest of the property, and we are proud to boast of the wonders of the awesome dry compost toilet system (not at all like a long drop), solar electricity and rain water. Much of the furnishings utilise reclaimed timber, the Yellow wood and Oregon close to 100 years old.
Nestled on the edge of the forest, it overlooks the Gonubie River Valley, and as the house is surrounded by nature, so you can expect to see numerous birds, animals and insects.
It can sleep 3 people (a double bed on the mezzanine and a single sleeper couch in the living room), it also has a fully equipped kitchen (sans an oven).
