The resort offers 14 modern self-catering log cabins in park-like surroundings. Eland Valley is the ideal getaway for the whole family and nature lovers. Each of the 2 bedroom cabins accommodate up to 6 persons (adults & children). We also have 1 bedroom cabins for couples. Cabins are fully self-catering so guests need only bring food and beverages. A gas cylinder can be hired for a gas heater.

Eland Valley Resort, located in the scenic Southern Drakensberg in Underberg, is situated at the foot of the majestic Garden Castle. The 150-hectare resort is bordered by the Mzimkhulwana (Garden Castle) Nature Reserve (Ezemvelo KZN) and the Mlambonjwa River (a tributary of the Umzimkulu River).

There are scenic walks and hikes for both the amateur and serious adventurer. Enjoy the many picnic and tubing spots along the sparkling river. Wildlife (eland, reedbok), Egyptian Geese, guinea-fowl, wild duck and other birds abound in the resort. A golf course, convenience store and restaurants are available nearby.

It was great!
Very pleasant and peaceful stay. Enjoyed it a lot.
Clean, neat and just a beautiful place.
Our stay at the Resort was wonderful. The chalets were clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Very peaceful atmosphere.
Our stay was lovely and peaceful. Cabin was clean and tidy and the Staff lovely.
I would suggest to try and encourage more bird life, and there is a big body of water.
The 2 sleeper chalets have the most spectacular views! We felt thoroughly spoilt sitting on our deck admiring the mountains, lake and birdlife! Only a few of the larger cabins however share this view, so it's worth asking for one on the water if you are booking a larger cabin.
The kitchen facilities are perfectly adequate with an excellent tidy service every morning. However there was no dishwashing liquid left for us so worth taking your own so that you can clean dishes that you might need twice in 1 day. There was also no spare toilet roll (although they gave us a new one each day) so again worth taking your own spare.
The only downside that we experienced is the bed mattress is not very comfortable, so we didn't have the best nights rest there. Its bearable, but not wonderful.
There is a large Spar in town (30km from the resort) and a small convenience cener less than 1km from the resort.
If your into hiking or bird watching, this is paradise for you! If you have kids there is a pool on the property and the golf course about 2km away has tons of kiddy activities at a day visitor charge of R50 p/p
The resort was easy to find and units are clean and neat. Cleaning staff are very friendly and helpful. There is no cell reception but the free wi-fi works fairly well. The resort has many rules and regulations and you also get charged to use many of the facilities. Upon arrival you are also asked—somewhat unusually—for a refundable R400 breakage deposit that is not clearly/properly communicated beforehand.
