The Rosendal Country Retreat is newly renovated and now open for business!
We are still in the process of renovating the property - so far we have completed 12 rooms and a cosy communal lounge and dining room!

In Room Facilities:

* Kitchenette with complimentary freshly baked mini bread loaf and basics (tea, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper, olive oil)
* Kitchenette consists of:
2 plate, gas stove, Microwave, small fridge. All cutlery, crockery, utensils.
Braai facilities are available, charcoal not included, but can be purchased on
site.
* Spacious bathroom with high quality amenities and towels.

Area Information:

Rosendal is a small farming town and arts colony 49 km north of Ficksburg in the Free State province of South Africa which was founded in 1908. It has become a popular tourist destination, known for spectacular scenery, including the surrounding mountains, and is home to a community of artists and small business owners. The town has a number of attractive buildings and early-20th-century homes. There are several art galleries and several small cafes cum restaurants as well as a heritage district of restored buildings in the former downtown

The place to go if you want to (re)treat yourself. Absolutely beautiful and peaceful, only positive things to be said. Here our souls caught up with our bodies…so much detail to the smallest things without it being over the top. Great focus on comfort and luxury while keeping it minimalistic which forces you to slow down and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Bonni is an amazing hostess and goes out of her way to make your stay as memorable and special as possible. All the staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We decided to stay a day longer before continuing our journey to Clarens, even our teenage daughter complained that she missed the tranquility of Rosendal.

If you are planning to stay on a Sunday or Monday evening, remember to pack some buns or snacks as the restaurants are not open. Once you are at the retreat you do not want to leave in any case ;-)

The people in Rosendal are extremely friendly and despite loadshedding, Hennie from Oppidam went to great trouble to provide us with a wonderful lunch late Sunday afternoon.

If you enjoy nature, silence, good food, friendly people and need to ‘recharge’, The Rosendal Retreat is the place to go. We will definitely be back.

Absolutely worth every cent! The location, the scenery, the staff, everything is definitely amazing! The Rosendal Country Retreat exceeded ALL our expectations! The attention to small details was exceptional! The fresh cow milk, the freshly baked bread, the electric blankets, the extra towels at the hot tub, the games in the lounge with the coffee bar... Everything perfectly set out... We will definitely be back!
