Welcome to Long Thin Farm,
This working grape and olive farm, is situated 13kms out of Stilbaai, an ideal getaway for families or couples who enjoy being outdoors in the fresh air. There is safe swimming, paddling, and boating in the river with the farm offering guests the use of 2 double kayaks on which to explore the birdlife along the river and get in some good exercise. Boat launching and mooring by prior arrangement only.
Accommodation at Long Thin Farm:
Milkwood Cottage:
Milkwood Cottage, beautifully restored to expose some of its original stonework, sleeps two in the main double bedroom. The kitchen, living, and dining area are open-plan, fully equipped, and fitted with a cast-iron fireplace for winter. Towels and linen are also provided. Outside, there's an enclosed veranda and a private garden overlooking the river.
Stone Cottage:
Further along the way, Stone Cottage is like the name suggests: an old stone cottage that's been fully restored to the exacting standards of the modern Budget traveler. It also sleeps four, in two bedrooms. One main room with a double bed and the second bedroom has two single beds. The bedrooms share a common bathroom with a shower. As with Milkwood, towels and linen are provided. Again the lounge etc is open-plan and fully equipped, including the cast-iron fireplace. The veranda is covered with a red ceiling and has a wonderful outlook over the water.
Both Stone & Milkwood Cottage are situated a mere 325m walking distance to the river bed through the farms own cultivated Olive grove, this giving the cottages the most spectacular views of the meandering Goukou River.
Manor House:
Tucked away in the most tranquil serene setting sits Long Thin Farm’s main house on the banks of the Goukou River. This beautiful house is surrounded by olive trees, milkwoods, and the farm’s own vineyard. Sit outside on the spacious veranda and enjoy the wide variety of birdlife while sipping on some of Long Thin Farm’s red wine.
Explore the river on our kayaks to take in the most scenic surroundings, breathing in nature’s beauty. In summer, the river is busier. Use the private jetty and launching ramp for your ski boat or runabout. There are lovely riverside picnic areas as well as a jungle gym for the kids. Safe hiking and cycling trails will take you through endless untouched fynbos and spectacular views of the river.

A peaceful, small town with a lot of history and nature. It must retain its character. I hope it doesn't grow too much. Don't move there, just visit.

Still Bay is a lovely holiday destination. The friendly people make it extra special. There are a lot of walking trails along the Goukou for you to enjoy the beautiful nature.
