Here lies 5 self-catering guesthouses, in a valley at the foothills of the mighty Swartberg Mountains: where gigantic blue gums tell the stories of forgotten treasures, forgotten times. A place where the Bushmen left their history on the walls, where Willows hang their weary heads and winds whisper ancient secrets, ancient songs.
In Room Facilities:No electricity, but is fully equipped with paraffin lamps, a gas stove, gas fridge and gas geysers. All linen and towels are provided, as well as firewood. All houses have a braai. Wi-Fi available at the shop.
Area Information:Just 2kms from the foot of the awesome Swartberg Pass, Prince Albert is the perfect base for exploring all the wonders of the Swartberg including Gamkaskloof - "the Hell" and Meiringspoort.
Prince Albert is a beautiful town to visit. Here you can wander down to the dairy to buy your milk, cream and yoghurt, and visit our Saturday market for fruit and vegetables picked that morning, fresh baked bread, homemade jams and pickles.
Our on site coffee and gift shop provides you with the most delicious home made fig preserves as well gifts to buy.Make sure you taste our famous fig tart!
In summer the pools provides relief from the heat and beckons you to take a midnight swim. Each house has a private pool except Klein de Hoek. In winter decadent fireplaces or ancient black stoves make for a cosy stay.
On the farm you can view the fig harvesting in season ( End of Jan to end of Apr). We are a popular cycle destination, with lots of roads to explore.
You can walk up into the Kloof and experience the majestic mountains close-up.
And of course, the favourite activity is stoep-sit!
Activities for visitors include a guided historical walk through the town ( enquire from the Tourism Bureau 023-5411366), a ramble along the "Gordon's koppie", a ghost walk in the evening, star tours, trips into the Swartberg Pass, a visit to the Prince Albert Gallery, where numerous South African artists display their work, local shops, the weavery, traditional Karoo meals, and a visit to the delightful Fransie Pienaar Museum where a local farmer distills "Witblits".

Food
We had to find somewhere to stay for 1 night after our accommodation that we had, was cancelled.
Found this GEM on Lekker Slaap. Had a response from Esme within 5 min. We were flying back to PMB just after 9 the next day. So it was not even 5min drive from the airport. The rooms were spacious, clean and very well furnished. The country feel was amazing and affordable. Ill keep it on my list of where to stay.
The place is clean and very neat, the owners are very welcoming and friendly. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely go back there, it's also very secure.
The friendliness, the vibe they had going this time of the year, the beautiful scenery and the guest houses are amazing.
The views.
So central to everything.
Only the beach.
