Trumpetters Drift Game Farm is the ideal destination for visitors wanting a quiet nature retreat with the option of indulging in game farm activities with family and friends. The 5 000-hectare reserve consists of mainly Albany thicket, which overlooks the Great Fish River.
Accommodation comprises a 6-sleeper farmhouse with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The farmhouse features a well-equipped kitchen and an open-plan living area. The lounge area opens onto a patio that overlooks the communal swimming pool area. Each River View Room features an en-suite bathroom, and opens onto a patio facing the communal swimming pool area
All rooms are non-smoking and have free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, and daily housekeeping. The River View rooms have access to a shared kitchen. Communal property areas are shared with other guests if the farm is not booked exclusively.
The history of Trumpetters Drift began when it was discovered to be a convenient crossing point between Grahamstown and Fort Peddie. In 1817 Lord Charles Somerset, Governor of the Cape Colony, built a rudimentary fort after a group of Xhosas crossed the drift to attack Grahamstown. There is a historical stone fort at the lodge were the guests can learn more about the history free of charge.
The reserve has got Kudu, Impala, Nyala, Zebra, Eland, Waterbuck, Giraffe and other antelope species. This reserve is completely free from any large predators, but there is an abundance of smaller predators, such as blackback jackals, bat-eared fox as well as caracals. Our location is approximately 2 hours drive from Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) and an hour from Port Alfred.

Grahamstown Reviews
The Old buildings, the stunning churches and Cathedral, the history and the National Arts Festial.
The roads are full of potholes, everything closes very early during the weekend.
During fest, the Long table is a very good place for dinner!
Grahamstown is a lovely town but the terrible potholes and lack of water in town is a huge problem for visitors and residents alike. My sons are students at Rhodes University and struggle immensely with the bad water supply and as they call it "water shedding" as they sometimes go up to three days days at a time without water
Old world charm and quietness.
Beautiful old buildings to visit! The terrible streets full of potholes make this 5 star town unfortunately a 3 star place!
Beautiful historic buildings! Friendly people!
Kwantu, thats all I can say, Kwantu is my favourite place in Grahamstown by far!!!
Cathedral, monument and building.
The roads are bad though.
The weather and vegetation.
I like it around town of Grahamstown.
