Insika is a lovely self-catering restored laborers' cottage, totally off-grid, located on the R62, 8km outside Calitzdorp on the Gamka Private Farm Estate offering peace and tranquility, away from the noise and bustle of urban life, and encourages guests to wind down and enjoy what nature has to offer.
The cottage can accommodate 4 guests and comprises 2 bedrooms, which are both en-suite. The bedrooms are each furnished with a king-size bed and have en-suite bathrooms fitted with a shower, basin, and toilet. Both rooms have access to an outside shower. All linen and towels are provided.
The living area features an open-plan design with a kitchen, dining space, and lounge area. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge-freezer, 2-plate gas stove, microwave, basic crockery and cutlery, tea- and coffee-making facilities, and features a 4-seater dining table. There’s also a wood burning fireplace. The living area and kitchen are combined with a partially covered verandah which has access to a braai areas. Braai wood is included.
Guests should take note that water is obtained from a borehole so fresh drinking water is provided. All water is directed back into the veld. From the verandah, there are views of the olive grove, the nearby mountain range, and in the distance the R62. Safe parking and free Wi-Fi are available on the premises.
This cottage is situated on a working farm where vegetable pods and a wildlife environment can be found. Guests have access to walking and swimming in the river and can experience sundowners on the mountain tops or breakfast in the river bed on request. Guests are encouraged to embrace what it truly means to live off the grid.
A newly installed farm style plunge pool and pond have been established

We loved staying at Insika! We liked it because we were allowed to bring our dog with us and everything we needed could be found in the cottage. The location is great for being away from the dorp/town but also 8 min away from town should you need to buy something or go taste wine on route R62. The location in the mountains is just amazing and the wildlife you can hear around you just brings a sense of joy and relaxation.

Nature and tranquility.
We were all pleasantly surprised on how beautiful the area around Calitzdorp are especially where we stayed at Matjiesvlei Cottages. There are three wine cellars with great restaurants which makes it worth your while to visit.
