Mackaya Bella's main building has six luxury ensuite rooms - 2 can be made up as twins. Three rooms are upstairs and three rooms downstairs. There is also a family unit a few metres from the main guest house dwelling. This room has a king sized bed, a fold out double sofa, plus kitchen and ensuite. It can sleep two adults & two small children (under 12yrs only). The guest house also has a lounge and dining area where breakfast is served, as well as an outside deck overlooking a park. In addition there are two smaller, separate, single bed budget rooms with a kitchenette & ensuite. Available only for one person and car parking NOT guaranteed.
In Room Facilities:All rooms have a desk, free WiFi, air conditioning & Netflix. Beds are extra length, with the finest percale linen. There are also tea/coffee facilities, a desk, small fridge, hairdryer (on request), plus safe and a lockable drawer in each room. All rooms have ensuites and two rooms have a bath as well as a shower.
Area Information:MBGH is in the quiet but trendy, residential suburb of Glenwood, close to the University of KwaZulu-Natal Howard Campus, Entabeni, St Augustines, Inkosi Albert Luthuli and King Edward Hospitals, Nelson Mandela Medical School, and a short drive to the International Conference Centre, city and Durban beaches.
Property Facilities:Secure parking is on-site and a laundry service is provided at an additional cost. Please note: We have a steep, narrow driveway, so Quantums/Hyundai H1’s or anything bigger, will not fit down it. Also no trailers allowed. The two budget rooms are NOT guaranteed a car park, but we will try to assist where possible.
Attractions:A little haven - with a green conscience, hidden amongst lush indigenous gardens. We offer a peaceful, friendly environment out of the noisy city, but still conveniently close to all of Durban's main attractions. Apart from designated areas, we are a non-smoking establishment.

I stayed here for one week while visiting my husband who is currently living in Durban. He has stayed here for over a month & has loved it so much that he has changed his initial plan of moving to another place, and booked for the remaining 2 months of his stay. We stayed in one of the flats, which was very spacious, clean & well maintained. They have a wide variety of breakfast options, from very healthy to very yummy (sausages, bacon, etc). All the staff is always smiling & friendly.
What a warm and welcome stay. Our hosts were the absolute best and nothing was too much trouble. We have definitely found our Durban home and have already booked our stay for next year. Very comfortable and well appointed.
Lovely, warm, hosts, Nicky and Mike, really made our stay very special. Very comfortable rooms, great beds and linen, spacious shower. Breakfast was lovely. Parking on the property. We felt so at home during a short and exhausting trade show. We've already booked for next year!
I came to Durban for my first time to work with the University of KwaZulu-Natal. I chose this guesthouse over a big chain hotel further away, and I'm glad I did. The location is very close to the university's Howard campus. The staff are super-friendly & the owners are too. The rooms are nicely done & functional; the WiFi pretty good for South Africa; the gardens are beautiful. The location is residential, so don't expect restaurants/shops next door but there are some within a twenty min walk.
By far of the best guest houses I have stayed at. I felt like an extended family member as I was well treated by the staff and owners. They made my stay a memorable one. I would recommend Mackaya Bella guest house to my family and friends and next time I visit Durban, I am definitely going to stay there :)

The place is amazing let alone the Owner, We got to Glenwood at 22h30 and Mr Basil was waiting patiently for us. l salute Him for that, the room was so neat and it has everything, fridge, microwave, kettle, pot, plates, flat screen TV and aircon, shopping Centre just around the corner and the place is very quiet, we had Peace of Mind. 10/10 Mr Basil and the Crew, Thank You
