Toad Hall offers self-catering cottage accommodation on a 10-hectare secluded wooded property in a rural setting overlooking the picturesque Lion’s River Valley in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands. Whilst the location gives the feeling of being remote and tranquil due to its location, views and surroundings it is within easy commuting distance to various well known local attractions.
Four star self-catering accommodation is offered in five cottages discretely located with their own landscaped gardens plus the ‘Loft’ which is attached to Cottage 5 with its own entrance and private elevated viewing deck. Each cottage has a fully equipped kitchen with an electric oven, microwave, kettle, toaster and cooking pots and utensils. Each cottage is fitted with a fan, a flat-screen TV with DStv, and a weber braai facility. All linen and bath towels are provided. A welcome tray of tea, coffee, sugar, biscuits and milk is supplied plus a small decanter of Sherry.
The cottages are serviced daily. We are pet friendly and all five cottages have fenced gardens. Wi-Fi internet access is available. Wood for the braai and fireplace is provided free of charge. Secure parking under a shaded carport is available at each cottage.
We are a family run business aiming for quality not quantity and our intention is to make Toad Hall your ‘Home Away From Home’ experience with our guests treated as friends not commodities. A duty manager is available for any issues that might arise throughout your stay whilst ensuring you get the privacy and peace and quiet that Toad Hall is known for.

Toad Hall Cottages is the perfect place to enjoy a peaceful getaway with loved ones. The self-catering cottages are conveniently situated near the water sports of the Midmar Dam and its famous Midmar Mile. An ideal location for parents with students at schools such as Michaelhouse, Hilton, St Anne’s and others.
There are various well-known local attractions such as Piggly Wiggly Country Village, Caversham Mill Restaurant and the Mandela Capture Site & Museum. The Lion’s River Brewery and Beer Garden are also only 7 kms from Toad Hall via the network of private gravel roads which extend into the Lion’s River valley and forested hills beyond which are well suited to mountain biking and hiking. The Midmar Dam and recreation area is 21 kms away plus White Water Rafting is available on the Lion’s River at Caversham Mill Restaurant which is 8 km away.
There are various species of small game and birds in the vicinity which are seen regularly on the property including duiker, bushbuck, jackals, mongooses, hares, vervet monkeys, eagle owls , eagles, buzzards, kites, thrushes, sunbirds, shrikes and hoopoes.
