Embrace the cozy charm of this retreat, perfect for couples seeking an escape to the tranquil countryside. Explore orchards, canoe on the dam, bask in summer sun in the private garden, or snuggle up by a crackling fire in winter.
Nestled beside the main farm homestead, this quaint Cape vernacular cottage sits beneath ancient Oak trees, offering views of the horse paddock, stables, and endless rows of pear and apple trees along the entrance farm road. As a working farm, weekdays buzz with activity, accompanied by the hum of tractors. Inside the cottage, a nostalgic ambiance prevails with its low reed ceilings, well-worn furniture, classic stripe, floral, and check fabrics, and scattered old Persian rugs. Bookshelves brim with vintage volumes and a generous cane basket is stocked with firewood for the cozy closed-stove in the sitting area.
A self-catering cottage with two cozy bedrooms featuring double beds and a shared bathroom. The cottage boasts a fully equipped kitchen and offers lake access and picturesque vineyard vistas.
The open-plan living area boasts double doors on either side of the dining space, offering access to picturesque vistas. Guests can savor their private, lovely garden for relaxation, barbecue, or lounging on a chaise longue. A single delightful "vintage-style" bathroom features an extra-large shower and a bathtub. Please be aware that the farm's drinking water is sourced from the mountain and may have a brownish hue, so don't be alarmed if your bathwater appears brown.
Guests are welcome to stroll around the farm, at their leisure. We do have three, friendly big dogs, so they may very well join you for a walk. Also, feel free to walk to the dam ( a 1 minute stroll), and sit on the glorious jetty, or take a row in a 2-seater Indian canoe.

Elgin is a rural town, 45 minutes drive from the city of Cape Town, and 30 minutes from the Cape Town International airport. There is no public transport available in the area.
The Elgin Valley is known to be very picturesque. Spring is the best time to come. Roses bloom in abundance and the flush of apple blossom on all the trees is breathtaking. There is an annual garden show in the first two weeks of November, where many farm gardens are open to the public for viewing. Other than the valley being very pretty, it produces the most exceptional "cool climate" wines, like Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, and planning a day of wine-tasting is a "must do". There are also some renowned restaurants in the valley, providing food made from the fresh produce that the valley has to offer, including organic fruit and vegetables, cheeses, Wagu beef and our famous Elgin "free-range" chickens and ducks. Hermanus, a seaside town, is a 30 minute drive, and every year there is a famous "whale watching" celebration.

Elgin Reviews
Elgin is great and filled with lots of places to visit. I would recommend popping in at the railway market and Charles Fox (it’s a bit of a distance but the champers is with it)
The Elgin Railway Market.
Close enough to get there quick and far enough to escape the 'citylife' and experience forests, home made bakes and beautiful farms...
Great weather and a great Railway market.
Not much to do. It's more so suited for people who want to unwind.
The wine farms and Old Mac Daddy.
The peacefulness and friendliness.
The green orchards, the vineyards, the mountains.
The markets and ziplining
The wonderful cuisine available at 5 star establishments.
Walk, wine tasting, relaxing, close to cape town, but different environment.
