Off the beaten track in the Transkei Wild Coast, Eastern Cape, Louis at Magwa Falls offers guests accommodation in the Gwexintaba village in the Goso Forest, just 20 km outside the small town of Lusikisiki.
Louis at Magwa Falls offers basic and off-grid accommodation and is an idyllic getaway destination for hikers and nature lovers to escape the busy city life. Guests have a choice of booking the Crowned Eagle House, the Family Rondavel or a Camp Site.
With its stunning views of the surrounding mountains, Crowned Eagle House has a downstairs room that is furnished with a comfortable double bed and a bunk bed, and a loft sleeping area with 2 mattresses, enjoying magnificent views of the valley below. The unit has an en-suite toilet and a hot spacious outdoor shower. The kitchenette is equipped with a small fridge and a 2-plate gas stove.
The unit has solar lights, a skylight and guests can leave the door open for more nature to come in, opening onto a patio with comfortable tyre chairs from which to enjoy the world-class view. A couple of steps down a braai area that is surrounded by trees and beautiful boulders.
To enjoy a more traditional style, the Family Rondawel is situated in a beautiful setting with all the amenities. The unit is furnished with a double bed and 2 bunk beds and share the use of the kitchen and bathroom facilities with the Camp Sites. Guests have a choice of different spots and is a great way to experience Louis at Magwa Falls, and please need to bring their own camping equipment.
Located next to the Family Rondawel is the large communal self-catering kitchen which has a rocket stove that also provides warmth in the cooler evenings, a 2-plate gas stove, a fridge and a large dining table. Situated just outside the kitchen is the braai area which is stocked with firewood. A rocket shower and gas showers are available for short hot showers and the composting toilet boasts a magnificent forest view. These facilities are shared between guests staying in the Family Rondawel and the Camp Site.
Seeing that our wood doesn’t make nice braai coals, you should bring your own charcoal if you want to braai.
Hikes and tours are available at an additional cost, and guests can visit the magnificent Magwa Falls which has a 144 m drop into a gorge, with various hidden viewpoints along the way and take a guided hike down the plateau ridge and into the old Mdeni village.
Please note, that a vehicle with high ground clearance is needed to get to Louis at Magwa Falls. If your vehicle isn’t suitable, a pickup in Lusikisiki can be arranged at an additional fee.
