The Melkstal, formerly a dairy, offers a unique Family Farm Lifestyle experience tailored for the discerning traveler. Enjoy a picturesque view of natural fynbos mountains and a serene swimming/fishing dam. The main bedroom features a king-size bed with an en-suite bathroom, while a second bedroom offers two three-quarter beds and a separate bathroom. The open-plan lounge area includes a long table and a cozy fireplace, along with an additional double-bed sleeper couch. A fully equipped kitchen, with a dishwasher and a coffee machine, opens onto a semi-enclosed stoep with a braai area and a wood-fired hot/cold tub. The Melkstal is perfect for a family break, a special occasion, or a romantic anniversary.

In Room Facilities:

* Milk and Honey:
The cottage is 1km from Beloftebos, on your way there (thus 14km from Stanford). It sleeps 6 people – one en suite double bedroom, 1 room with two twin single beds and a loft with two single beds. It has two bathrooms, an outside shower, with hot water and a loo with a view. The spacious stoep will add to a memorable weekend on the farm. Linen and towels are provided.

* Light Cottage :
The setting of Lighuisie offers panoramic views and borders on the Salmonsdam Nature Reserve. Accommodation is cosy and comfortable. Appliances are gas powered and lights solar powered. Oil-lamps, however no Eskom, add to the romantic setting. There is hot water in both bathrooms, inside the cottage as well as well as in the double shower outside. Lighuisie has a large hearth as well as a gas oven. Unfortunately for wedding guests, however, no electricity means no hair-drying or last-minute shirt ironing. Light house is a favourite with the children.

* Groenvy Farmhouse:
Groenvy Farmhouse cannot be called a cottage. It is a proper farmhouse that was built close to the main farmhouse only a few years ago. The house is a mere 500m from Beloftebos, making it ideal for children who need to be baby-sat. It sleeps 8 people (two more can sleep in the living area if numbers need to be catered for) in 4 bedrooms. The main bedroom has a queen-size bed with a walk in dressing room and bathroom. The second bedroom has a double bed and the other two bedrooms each have two single beds.

* Situated on a hill overlooking some of the surrounding farms and a poplar grove, Granaat Cottage boasts a large stoep in the front and a substantial dam at the back. It has two bedrooms , both with a double bed, one with an en suite bathroom and the other one opening onto the stoep. From the living area and kitchen (which includes a fireplace), there is a cosy corner to soak in the winter sun. Stairs go up to the loft with 4 single beds and roof windows to watch the stars. There is a second bathroom and separate toilet inside as well as a shower with hot water, outside. Granaat Cottage is about 2km from the Beloftebos Wedding Venue.

Area Information:

The huge oak trees, that are Beloftebos, were planted about 130 years ago by Squire de Villiers in remembrance of his parents who founded the farm. Squire was a great-great uncle of Andries de Villiers.

After Andries took over the running of the farm from his father, Johan, he gradually started clearing the oak forest of alien vegetation. He met his wife, Coia, in 2004 and decided to get married shortly after that. The oak forest was the perfect place to exchange their matrimonial vows. Thus, on a cool autumn day in 2005 , they stood under the leafy roof by the oak stump pulpit and the idea of Beloftebos was born.

Property Facilities:

At Beloftebos we use what we’ve got and prepare it in the best way we know. Our ingredients are seasonal, natural, home-grown and local.

Hawtry and Joan Judd’s picturesque organic vegetable garden supply as much of the greens for the weddings as possible.

Klein River Cheese Factory provides award-winning cheese. Honey we get from Uitspanning Heuning down the road and of course our own home grown vegetables.

Paardenberg farm, where Beloftebos is situated, provides farm raised lamb.

Take all of this and add chef Corneli de Villiers’ skill and well-seasoned kitchen team, Katy Franse’s roosterkoek and home-made gingerbeer as well as our new wood-fired bread oven and the result is the most hearty, yet sophisticated country cuisine.

Attractions:

Activities in the Stanford area include cheese-, beer-, and wine-tasting. With Hermanus and Gansbaai being less than 30 minutes away from the farm, You can make Beloftebos Cottages your base for whale-watching and shark-cage diving.
Mountain-biking trails have been recently constructed and range from easy trails for the entire family, to some serious single track rides. Hikers and runners are also welcome.
Trout fishing and Wine tasting at Vaalvlei Farm, 6 km from Beloftebos..
White Shark adventures Gansbaai, 30 min from Beloftebos, and Panthera Africa, the wild cat sanctuary is just a few minutes down the road.
