An ideal country getaway...
The charming historical town of Tulbagh is in the wine lands of the Boland in the Western Cape Province, South Africa.
The valley was first discovered by European settlers in 1658 and land grants were made to 14 farming families in 1700. The town itself was developed in 1743 when the first church was built. After the 1969 earthquake, it was decided that Church Street should be restored to its original glory. These 32 buildings now constitute the largest concentration of National Monuments in a single street in South Africa.
The town is situated in the beautiful Tulbagh valley, which is almost completely surrounded by 3 mountain ranges - the Obiqua mountains,, the towering Winterhoek on the northern end and the Witzenberg range. The Great Winterhoek mountains tower 2077m above sea level and are picturesquely snow-capped in winter.
Property Facilities:Each cottage has a covered veranda with its own braai facility. We provide braai grids and braai utensils and wood for the first fire.
Each cottage has a secure on-site parking spot.
Sunburst farm cottage has a plunge pool (not heated).
All 4 other farm cottages have their own outdoor woodfire heated hot tubs
The 2 town cottages each have their own outdoor woodfire heated hot tubs
There is an abundance of activities in and around the Witzenberg Valley.
Ceres Golf Club and the Ceres Zip Slide are 30 minutes from Tulbagh.
Enjoy pampering at a local spa such as Vindoux Day Spa or book a relaxing massage in the comfort of your cottage.
Magnificent horse riding trails are just 5 minutes from us at Vrolikheid Horse Trails. Scenic tractor rides up the Oudekloof pass, including picnics on nearby farms
Cyclists are welcome to bring their bicycles for wonderful scenic routes across the valley.
A visit to our local wineries and exploring the Tulbagh Wine Route is highly recommended. Hikers can enjoy a good hike at the nearby Murludi Farm. The historical town of Tulbagh is situated 7 kilometers from the farm. Here you will find coffee shops, restaurants, art galleries, and museums. A visit to the famous Church Street with its national monuments is a must. Guests may also enjoy fishing (catch-and-release) in our dam.

Tulbagh Reviews
Our second visit and certainly not the last. So much to do and see!
Scenery
Wine, scenery, sunset
Beautiful, historic and quaint little town. Stroll down church street and have a roosterkoek at Kole & Deeg. Highly recommend the Gin Yard at Vindoux wine farm. The Spar gets ridiculously busy on long weekends so rather come prepared unless you want to stand in line for 30 mins. The Tulbagh Nursery is awesome if you’re into gardening and plants. And take the Bain’s Kloof pass if you want a beautiful scenic route!
The quaint town, the beautiful scenery, the olive tasting.
Everything!
Wine, the history side.
We found Tulbagh to be close enough to Cape Town for a quick weekend away with family & friends.
Clean town with stunning wine farms, wine tasting and lovely restaurants.
Very picturesque with great hiking, mountain biking trails.
Lots of convenient shops in the town.
Can't wait for our next visit.
We loved our Sunday lunch at Tulbagh Hotel and Champagne tasting at Krone.
We went to Essere lodge for a weekend and loved it! Have done many wine tastings at the surrounding farms, love going there often.
