Temba Private Game Reserve is located 14 km from central Makhanda (Grahamstown) and 120 km from Chief Dawid Stuurman International Airport in the Eastern Cape.
The town is best known for the Grahamstown Arts Festival. Venues are set up all across the city and the town becomes a hub of activity from early morning trading of food and crafts to late-night live music concerts and shows. The National Arts Festival offers a wide programme over ten days, with literally hundreds of exhibitions and performances. The Arts Festival has become the premiere showcase for South African visual arts, music, theatre and dance.
As much a part of Makhanda as its defining architecture and festival buzz is the campus of Rhodes University.
Makhanda’s architecture features exquisite examples of Victorian, Colonial and Gothic Revivalist building styles.

Grahamstown Reviews
The Old buildings, the stunning churches and Cathedral, the history and the National Arts Festial.
The roads are full of potholes, everything closes very early during the weekend.
During fest, the Long table is a very good place for dinner!
Grahamstown is a lovely town but the terrible potholes and lack of water in town is a huge problem for visitors and residents alike. My sons are students at Rhodes University and struggle immensely with the bad water supply and as they call it "water shedding" as they sometimes go up to three days days at a time without water
Old world charm and quietness.
Beautiful old buildings to visit! The terrible streets full of potholes make this 5 star town unfortunately a 3 star place!
Beautiful historic buildings! Friendly people!
Kwantu, thats all I can say, Kwantu is my favourite place in Grahamstown by far!!!
Cathedral, monument and building.
The roads are bad though.
The weather and vegetation.
I like it around town of Grahamstown.
