Ou Meul Farm is a working farm also situated on the foothills of the Houw Hoek mountains along the Van Der Stel Pass in Botriver, allowing guests to experience the scenery of the natural surroundings, with plenty of birds and wildlife present in the area.

The farm is 83 km from Cape Town International Airport and 35 km from Hermanus.

The river, which rises south of the Theewaterskloof Dam, flows into a large lagoon, forming a marsh near its mouth, known as the Bot River Lagoon.

The Botrivier wetlands are home to thousands of waterfowl and you can catch a glimpse of South Africa's only herd of wild horses that roam in a wetland habitat. A couple of wine farms are situated in and around this town and are well worth a visit, and have also helped put Botrivier on the map.
