If it’s privacy you seek, Baobab Hill House is the answer. Our cozy homestead perches on a ridge just north of the Luvuvhu river. It is shaded by the branches of great baobabs and shrouded in history – it was once the Pafuri section ranger’s station, and is now converted into a luxurious secluded retreat. Here, privacy and comfort reign: four bedrooms sleep up to eight people, and the open-plan kitchen, dining room and lounge provide ample space to spend time together.

The “Out of Africa” veranda is the highlight of Baobab Hill House, and you’ll find yourself drawn to it for long, lazy afternoons, sundowners and stargazing. A pool, wooden deck and thatched gazebo provide great places to escape from the midday sun. You have a professional guide and open safari vehicle at your disposal, so you can enjoy guided game drives or choose to explore the area on foot. To make your stay hassle-free, Baobab Hill House comes with a cook, housekeeper and camp-hand. Tailor your stay in Baobab Hill House, which can be booked on a catered or self-catering basis. Wifi is available.

In Room Facilities:

While the walking trails are fully catered, the Pafuri Camp luxury tented accommodation offers the the use of the lodge's restaurant and bar.

Area Information:

The spectacular, private Makuleke Concession of the northern Kruger National Park is perhaps the best area for walking in the entire Park and is blessed not only with exceptional biodiversity but also spectacular scenery, seasonally high densities of many large mammal species, a feeling of wilderness and remoteness, and a sense of history.

Habitats include the life-giving arteries of the Limpopo and Luvuvhu rivers, both with well-developed floodplains and a series of vitally important seasonal pans. Between the two rivers lies a ridge of hills with a network of drainage lines and secret perennial springs to which the area's game is drawn. Rugged baobab dotted kopjes jut from mopane woodland and endless vistas across palm-studded floodplains, acacia woodland and ethereal riverine forests.

The Makuleke region was returned to its rightful owners, the Makuleke community who were forcibly removed in 1969, in one of the first land claims settled after the end of apartheid. The Makuleke community continue to co-manage the area for conservation as an integral part of the greater Kruger National Park.

Please note that Pafuri Camp, Baobab Hill Bush House and Pafuri Walking Trails Camp have to abide by SANParks gate entry and exit times. To view these times please visit SANParks.org
